Chapter 1233 Drunk

Alex couldn’t tell how much truth lay in Kate’s words. He understood all too well the kind of schemesand tricks she was capable of. And for that, he couldn’t invest his genuine feelings for her.

Kate was so intent on marrying him purely because of his status as the chairman of the Four SeasCorporation. This was something Alex understood very well.novelbin

If it weren’t for Emmalyn, Alex might never have had much to do with Kate in his lifetime, let alonemarry her. But now, as Emmalyn grew older, Alex didn’t want people to say that Emmalyn grew upwithout a father.

Alex merely smiled in response to Kate’s words.

Despite being met with cold indifference, Kate didn’t lose heart. After all, she knew she couldn’t rushthings. If she pushed too hard, not only would it be impossible for Alex to fall in love with her, but all herefforts could also backfire.

Dexter held great contempt for Alex in his heart. Is he planning to freeload while acting tough

now?

“Ms. Sutton, there are plenty of men in this world. Handsome, rich, and of good character. With yourbeauty, you can have any man in the world. Why are you fixated on a divorced. man who lives offothers? I feel it’s not worth it for you,” Dexter said.

Upon hearing those words, Kate picked up a glass of wine from the table and splashed it all overDexter’s face. She retorted, “Who I fancy is none of your business! What right do you have to speakabout Alex like that? In my eyes, he is the best man in the world. No one else can stand up to him!”

Dexter looked disheveled as he wiped the wine off his face. If it had been Heather, he would haveslapped her without hesitation. However, since it was Kate, he could afford to offend her.

Worried that Kate might hold a grudge, Dexter slapped himself a couple of times, expressing hisremorse. “I’m so sorry,” he said. “I don’t know how to act. I deserve this. Please, don’t be mad!”

Kate snorted coldly and let things slide with Dexter. Instead, she turned to Heather and gave her a longlook as if to say, this old man you have by your side is nothing! Not only is he buttering up to me, but healso just apologized to me.

Heather was drinking sullenly, using alcohol to drown away her humiliation. If only she hadn’t divorcedAlex back then, perhaps things wouldn’t have turned out differently.

“Do you want to sing, Alex? I’d love to hear your voice!” Kate nestled into Alex’s arms and cooedsweetly.

“No, I don’t enjoy singing,” Alex declined without hesitation. He then stood up. “I’m going to therestroom.”

Kate felt disheartened. However, she had no choice but to let the matter slide.

Dexter sang song after song; his voice wasn’t too bad to listen to. Since Alex wasn’t around, Kateplayed with her phone; while Heather tried to drink all her troubles away until she threw up all over thefloor.

Kate glanced at the vomit on the ground and stepped back with disgust. She spoke with a hint ofannoyance, “Heather, what on earth are you doing?”

Dexter also felt that Heather was creating trouble and ruining his reputation. Hence, he yanked her upfrom the sofa and pushed her out the door, saying, “You’re disgusting. Hurry along and wash up in therestroom! You’re so filthy.”

Heather was feeling down because of Alex’s and Kate’s engagement and had drunk lots of alcohol asshe sat there alone. Since she rarely drank, consuming five or six bottles of beer at once was too muchfor her to handle..

Her cheeks flushed red and she swayed side-to-side while walking due to severe dizziness. She had tolean against the wall as she inched her way forward.

The scene before his eyes was a dizzying blur, as if she was looking through a wall of water. AsHeather continued to walk, she bumped into a man.
