Chapter 3162

Rhea had spent her money in moderation despite working tirelessly. On the other hand, her sister-in-law was wasteful and lived a far morecomfortable life. How could her parents dote on their son and daughter-in-law but not her?

They would rather take her money and give it all to their daughter-in-law... What a family she had.

Dean hugged his mother and said softly, “You didn’t do anything wrong,Mom. I know you're tired. You're doing this for me to live a better life. I'llstudy hard and be a useful person when I grow up. I'll becomesomeone you can rely on and protect you. You won't have to be tiredever again.”

Rhea embraced her son’s thin figure. She said happily, “My son's thebest. I'm content so long as you're healthy and safe. As for yourgrades... You've improved a lot. I'm happy.”

Not every child was good at studying; some could be clever but simplydid not perform well academically.

However, not a single child would be deemed stupid. They perhapsexcelled in areas other than their studies.

Rhea did not expect Dean to be exceptional. She just wanted him to beable to protect the family's assets.novelbin

“I can do better, Mom.”

“I believe you, but you must prioritize your health. You can't be toopicky, okay? Less snacks, more proper food to grow tall. You're thinnerand shorter than your peers now.”

Dean pursed his lips but still nodded.

He was a picky eater.

At that moment. Old Mrs. Torres brought a bowl of soup to Rhea.“Thank you.”

Rhea let Dean go and accepted the soup. She put the bowl down firstas it was slightly scalding to the hand.

Old Mrs. Torres sat beside her husband.

Rhea proceeded to talk to them about the company's recent businessdeals.

Victor had inherited the company from his parents when he was stillalive. Although Old Mr. and Mrs. Torres were of advanced age andcould not manage the company after losing their only son, it did notmean they were clueless about their own business.

Despite Rhea single-handedly managing the company, she had noselfish intentions. She would talk to her in-laws about what washappening daily in the company.

The accumulated assets of the Torres family would belong to her sonand his future children.

“We trust you, Rhea. You can make all the decisions. We believe thatyour judgments have gotten better,” said Old Mrs. Torres gently.

The company suffered continuous losses back when Rhea just tookover. It had made her very anxious.

However, after managing the company for seven years, she was nolonger the inexperienced woman she was.

“Rhea, if you ever find a suitable, nice man, then go for it. Dean's stillyoung. He needs paternal love. My husband and I are getting older, and we don't know when we might die. If we pass away, you and Deanwill only have each other. Some people might bully you two when thathappens.

“A family like ours is easily taken advantage of when there isn't acapable man around.”

Rhea took the bowl of soup and drank it slowly.

Her in-laws and son watched her.

Dean wanted a father figure, but he was afraid of having a stepfather. While other kids had their fathers, his passed away early. He only knewwhat Victor looked like from pictures.

Dean barely had any memory of his father, as he was only two whenVictor died.

A stepfather... According to his classmates, stepfathers were mostlyevil.

His family was rich as well. He was scared of his stepfather going forhis family’s money.

Dean's maternal grandma often told his mother that it would be betterto pass all the money to his uncle than get deceived after remarrying.Whenever that was mentioned, his mother would get furious. Therefore, Dean knew his maternal grandma was up to no good.

Why did the money earned since his great-grandfather must be givento his uncle from Mom's side?
