Chapter 3146

Mrs. Torres, whose job was only to spend money, had transformed into a successful career womanwithin a few years.

She smiled. “You’re the more impactful person, Mrs. York.”

Serenity was the York family’s missus. She did not have an outstanding family background and onlyfound Aunt Audrey after marrying Zachary. Although her aunt was Mrs. Stone, none of the Stonefamily’s assets belonged to Serenity. She simply gained a relative.

To think that someone of Serenity’s background was able to be Zachary’s wife; she must havelucked out.

Everyone remembered Serenity as she married Zachary and gained a foothold in the York familydespite coming from a mediocre one herself. Before she got pregnant, the public criticized her forbeing infertile but the Yorks defended her.

They would target anyone who dared to badmouth Serenity.

Even though there were rumors that Tania disliked Serenity, Tania was willing to forego her imageand fight those who criticized Serenity.

Who would then not be jealous of Serenity?

Envy was also part of the reason most people remembered Serenity.

Even Mrs. Torres felt that Serenity was extremely lucky.

However, the person she truly envied was Liberty.

Despite being a divorcee with a son, Liberty still received Duncan’s love.

Duncan was not overly handsome. He had a scar on his face and a rough personality. While hisappearance was slightly inferior to that of Zachary and Josh, he was a capable man with a networth of ten million dollars. To Mrs. Torres, Duncan was a good man.

After losing her husband, she had thought of getting another partner. However, she was afraid ofothers aiming for her money.

Although she called the shots in the family, she was a conservative woman. Despite havinginherited the assets of her husband’s family, she wanted to leave everything to her son, who washer husband’s successor.

Mrs. Torres would not allow her next partner to covet her deceased husband’s assets.

If she were to find a man with good character and considerable wealth, she would not have to worryabout that man going after her late husband’s assets.

Mrs. Torres had considered Duncan before.novelbin

However, there were rumors that Duncan fancied Liberty before she could even express herinterest. Later, Duncan’s actions proved the rumors true.

He had truly fallen in love with Liberty.

Mrs. Torres had been disappointed.

That was why her gaze turned dark and unreadable when she saw Serenity.

Duncan and Liberty would not have gotten to know each other if not for Serenity.

Actually, Mrs. Torres was mistaken.

When Duncan met Liberty, he had no idea she was Zachary’s sister-in-law. Zachary was also hidinghis identity at that time.

Later, they bumped into each other several times, and Liberty even hit Duncan’s car once. Upondiscovering that Liberty was Zachary’s sister-in-law, Duncan even complained to Zachary thatLiberty must have hit his car on purpose.

He had driven his expensive car carefully for some time after the accident just in case Libertysuddenly appeared and hit his car again.

“Are you heading out, Mr. Lewis? We have an appointment to meet.”

Mrs. Torres reminded Duncan that he could not leave.

Their business deal was not settled yet.

Duncan said apologetically, “I have to go to York Corporation now, Mrs. Torres. I’ll have my COOattend to you. You can talk to him instead.”

After speaking, he was about to call his COO.

Mrs. Torres said, “Are you going to York Corporation now? We can talk another day then.”

Mrs. Torres wanted to interact with Duncan, not the COO.

If the COO did take over, she would not be able to meet Duncan if she visited Lewis & Co. in thefuture.
