Chapter 3126

“Mr. York, I’m the person who went to the O’Connors residence for the interview with you.”

Someone who went to the interview with him?novelbin

Austin remembered that he had gone by taxi to the O’Connors alone. When he arrived, heregistered his information and entered the manor in the car arranged by the butler.

The manor was huge. Although it could not compare to Wildridge Manor, the time needed to travelfrom the entrance to the main house by foot was still pretty long.

That was why the butler would arrange for cars to shuttle their guests.

At that moment, Austin remembered something.

It was not someone who traveled to the O’Connors’ manor with him but his competitor.

It seemed like that person was pretty capable, seeing that he could obtain Austin’s information, probably determined to be the family’s private chef.

Austin walked over and opened the door. A man and a woman were standing before his room.

The man was middle-aged, most likely in his forties whereas the woman was young and in hertwenties. She looked similar to the older man. They could be father and daughter.

Those were Austin’s guesses.

“Who are you?”

Austin’s gaze swept across them before settling on the middle-aged man.

When the woman saw him, she looked surprised. She could have been shocked at Austin’s youngage or good looks.

“Sorry to disturb you, Mr. York. I’m Weston Abbot, and this is my daughter, Jovanne.”

Weston introduced himself.

Austin nodded. “Hi, Mr. Abbot.”

He also nodded at Jovanne as a greeting.

“What business do you have with me, Mr. Abbot?”

Austin did not ask how Weston knew his surname.

Weston must have had his ways to discover his name and the place he stayed.

There was no need for Austin to get to the bottom of it as long as Weston did not know he belongedto the York family from Wiltspoon.

He probably would not be able to get that piece of information anyway.

Windermere was located far from Georgia. Although York Corporation’s reach was extensive, theYorks were not involved in that many industries in Satbury, Windermere. Instead, they had quite anumber of chain stores.

While York Corporation was ambitious, Windermere was not their market as the place was alreadyheadquarters to a few mega-corporations, with the O’Connors in the lead. The Yorks and theO’Connors had many conflicts over business.

If York Corporation were to enter Satbury’s market, they would probably be jointly targeted by thecity’s existing mega-corporations. No matter how formidable York Corporation was, they would still

be easily defeated when they were in other families’ territory.

Close to Satbury, Havenmill was home to the Longbottoms with over a century of history. The familybased many of their businesses in Satbury too.

Therefore, none of York Corporation’s main businesses was based in Satbury. They wanted to avoidclashes with the businesses of the wealthy families in that city.

As a result, York Corporation was not well-known in Satbury.

No one would know about them unless they searched their name online, which most people wouldnot.

Weston smiled and said, “Nothing. I’m just here to talk about cooking with you.”

He eyed Austin and complimented him, “I didn’t think you’d be so young. Those selected for theprivate chef interviews are mostly middle-aged people like me. The younger ones usually don’t evenhave the chance to be interviewed.

“Ms. O’Connor would comment that younger chefs haven’t learned cooking for long. The food theymade may taste delicious to ordinary people, but she could never stomach it. Therefore, youngercandidates are usually eliminated from the get-go.”
