“Please make way. Otherwise, I’ll have to get the security to haul you away,” said Caroline sternly.
There was no way she would let the Dotts take advantage of her.
She was not even part of their family. Even if she was, she refused to let them suck her dry.
“Carol, don’t be so heartless. I’m still your adoptive mother who has raised you. You and the Fishersshould pay us for the effort.”
Caroline retorted, “Did your family pay us? The Fishers raised Celine too, until she was a full-grownwoman, but with more money and effort. If we must compare the amount spent on raising each ofus, your family will have to pay the Fishers a larger sum.
“Let’s not forget Marc Dott was the one who switched Celine and I at birth. Who else can you blamebut your father for making such a grave mistake? You should blame your own family for being tooambitious.”
The Dotts had planned to make their daughter the heir of the Fishers. Once she took over thefamily, they would then reveal the truth and blackmail Celine with it. By doing so, they could gain alot from the Fisher family.
It was a grand plan.
Caroline thought Belinda was clever and ruthless, yet even she fell for Marc’s schemes.
Belinda was also partly to blame. How could no one suspect something when Celine clearly lookeddifferent from the rest of the Fishers?
“I’ll count to three. If you don’t leave, I’ll call the security,” Caroline said and started counting down.
“We’re sorry, Carol. We shouldn’t have disturbed you.”
Carmen knew their plan to extort money had failed. She did not want to come, but her sons hadinsisted. They should have given up already.
Caroline’s thoughts were not something the Dotts could figure out since she became a teenager, letalone now.
Caroline was right as well. It was their family’s fault that had caused her to live miserably in the past.
The Dotts had made a huge mistake.
What right did they have to ask Caroline for money and demand that she care for Carmen?
After apologizing to Caroline, Carmen pulled her sons aside and removed themselves from blockingCaroline’s path.
The company gates were already open.
The security guards were waiting as they saw Caroline talking to those people.
Once the Dotts moved aside, Caroline stepped on the accelerator and drove into the company’scompound.
The gates closed soon after.
Carmen and her son watched Caroline’s car pull up at the entrance of Fisher Enterprise’s building.They observed her exit the car and enter the building before she disappeared from view.
“Are we leaving just like this, Mom?” Jacob asked, dissatisfied with the outcome.
Carmen replied, “What else can we do? Caroline’s the Fisher family’s successor now. She’llbecome the matriarch in the future. She’s no longer the girl we can bully and manipulate anymore.”
If she had known Caroline would be so cruel, she should have strangled her to death back then.
That way, Celine may have been able to remain in the Fisher family.
The thought of killing Caroline crossed the Dotts couple’s mind before. They wanted to strangle herand announce that she had died due to sickness.
