Chapter 3075

“Who's your old friend?” Caroline asked curiously.

Belinda did not tell her. All she said was, “My old friend is an old friend. You don’t need to ask so many questions. When I’m notaround, make sure to handle the company and family matters well. If anyone refuses to listen, just make a mental note and I'lldeal with them when | get back.

“Of course, it would be even better if you could deal with it yourself. After all, I'm getting old and | have to slowly let go for you totake over. You can’t rely on me your whole life.”

Caroline replied, “I know, Mom. Don’t worry. It’s not your first time going on a trip anyway. The last time you went to Wiltspoon foraround three weeks, | handled everything just fine.”

In fact, she felt more at ease when her mother was not home because those people could not use her mother to suppress her.She could do whatever she wanted.

“| believe in you. It’s late now. You should head up to sleep. I'll watch a little longer before | go back to bed.”Caroline hummed in acknowledgement and bade her mother goodnight before heading upstairs.

Once Caroline left, Belinda fished out the necklace pendant she wore year-round from under her collar. Hidden in it was a smallphotograph of Patrick when he was young.

She had secretly taken a photograph of him and cut it down to size after getting it developed to hide it in her pendant.First loves were the hardest to forget, after all.

They could not have been considered lovers because he had never loved her. He had always seen her as a little kid or just asthe second young lady of the Fishers.

In his eyes, only Tiara was a real woman to him—the woman he loved.

Belinda believed that he would have stayed single all his life for Tiara.

“No matter where you're hiding, as long as you're still alive, I'll find you,” Belinda murmured.

Patrick was the first and only man she had ever fallen in love with.

Even though decades had passed, there was still a place for him in her heart.

She only married Hunter because she needed a husband and children to leave her hard-won power to.Hunter had told Caroline that her mother loved someone else.

That was the truth.

Belinda had always had someone else she loved. She never showed off the necklace she wore because she did not want othersto notice she had a man’s photo secretly hidden inside.

She leaned back into the sofa and closed her eyes, remembering the past.

Without realizing it, she fell asleep.

In her dreams, she not only saw Patrick but also Tiara, who had raised her like a daughter. Mostly, she dreamed of Tiara.Tiara had been so much older than she was. Ever since she could remember, Tiara played a motherly role.

Just a few years after their mother gave birth to Alivia, she passed away.

Belinda and Alivia became even more dependent on Tiara.
