Chapter 2979

“Zack, it’s late and you’ve been working the whole day too. You should head to bed. I’ll head home too.”

Austin prepared to leave after talking it out with Zachary.

Zachary said, “It’s already so late. Why don’t you just stay the night? It’s not like I don’t have a room for

you.”

Austin politely declined. “It’s not far for me and you might have a room here, but I don’t have clothes to

change into.

“Plus, it’s hard for me to fall asleep anywhere other than on my own bed.”

He needed time to adapt to new places whenever he moved.

People who were used to their beds would toss and turn constantly when they were in an unfamiliar

place.

Zachary recalled that Austin’s private villa was not far away. Since Austin mentioned having sleeping

difficulty on foreign beds and no fresh clothes, Zachary did not insist on him staying. Instead, he only

reminded Austin to not drive too fast and to text him once he got home.

“Good night, Zack.”

Zachary did not get up to walk him out.

Once Austin left, Zachary drank half a glass of water and sniffed himself. He could still smell alcohol on

himself.

Afraid that the smell would affect his wife and that he would wake Serenity if he returned to the room

right, Zachary decided to make do in the study for the night.

He went upstairs and walked up to his room door, but did not enter. He stood there for a silent moment

before turning to enter his study.

Serenity slept until early morning. Then, she woke up to use the bathroom.

Before she turned in for the night, she had a glass of milk, which made her need to get up in the middle

of the night.

After coming out of the bathroom, she felt much more awake.

It was only then that she realized her husband had not returned.

Serenity walked back to her bed and sat down. Picking her phone up from the bedside table to check

the time, she saw that it was already three in the morning.

Was Zachary not back yet?

He had not even texted her to tell her when he would be back.

She called him.

He only picked up after a long while.

“Babe, are you not back yet?”

Serenity asked in concern. “Are things that tricky?”

In the past, he was always home by midnight no matter how busy he was.

However, it was already three now and he was still not back, which meant the issue was hard to handle

and was also of utmost importance.

Otherwise, he would not be out so late.

After getting married, especially after having nurtured a loving relationship, he would come home

earlier every time.

For some time, he always came home before half past ten at night to spend time with her.

“I’m sleeping in the study, Seren. I had a bit to drink last night and I reeked of alcohol. I was worried the

smell would affect you, and it was too late when I got back and you had gone to sleep. I was worried I

would wake you, so I slept in the study.”

Serenity did not say anything and hung up.

She immediately got up and walked outside.

Soon, she appeared at the study.

“Honey.”

Zachary had guessed that she was coming over and was about to go out.

Without saying a word, Serenity hugged and sniffed him. Then, she let him have a good look at him

and asked, “Are you drunk?”

Zachary pulled her back into his arms.novelbin

He then kissed her tenderly.

He placed his hand over her abdomen with a tender look. “When is this little guy coming out? I can’t

bear it anymore.”

“You were holding it in perfectly fine for such a long time before you married me.”

Serenity blushed.

At most, he would hug her tightly and give her a deep kiss.

Then he would naughtily declare three days off work once the baby was born for him to reclaim his lost

time with interest.

Needless to say, Serenity was speechless with him.
