Chapter 2952

Carrie smiled and nodded. “Yes, we’re quite close and my in-laws are busy with work, and so is my

husband. I’m the only one who has free time on my hands, so naturally, the responsibility for her care

has fallen to me. She’s really clingy and is closer to me than to my mother-in-law.”

“That’s why I have to drop her off and pick her up every day. She refuses to let the driver or the nanny

do it.”

Carrie realized she was getting better at making things up.

Besides, all she needed to do was turn up here and occasionally bump into Serenity. It was not like she

needed to actually pick up a kid and leave with one.

Serenity said, “Kids are like that. She’ll feel closer to whoever’s there for her all the time. My nephew’s

really close to me too. He doesn’t even make a fuss crying for his mother whenever she goes on

business trips.”

“Right? My sister-in-law’s the same.”

Carrie very patiently discussed the difficulties of raising a kid with Serenity.

Serenity had been helping Liberty to take care of Sonny before she got married and had experience

raising a child. Now that she was pregnant, her motherly instinct was running wild and she could go on

and on about discussing children.

The two chatted quite a bit until they spotted the teacher leading Sonny out.

Carrie grabbed this opportunity to say to Serenity, “Hey, can I get your contact? If my little brother-in-

law needs any reference materials in the future, I’ll just get them directly from your store. I won’t have

to run around helping him look for them then.”

Serenity did not agree to her request and instead, all she said was, “My bookstore is right there and

won’t move anywhere. If he needs anything, you can just get it there.”

Carrie was angry that Serenity did not agree to exchange their contact information, but she desperately

suppressed it to force a smile. “Okay. I’ll go there to take a look if I need anything in the future. Oh,

right. I’m married into the Longbottom family. We’re not native Wiltspoonians, but my husband has

businesses all over the country and we have houses in all the major cities.

“We only settled in Wiltspoon because my mother-in-law likes it.”

Serenity and Jasmine were good friends, and Jasmine was Josh’s wife too on top of that. Plus, Josh

was a Bucham. If Zachary needed to look into anything, he would typically get Josh to do it.

Carrie was worried Serenity would get the Buchams to look into the Longbottoms so she lied that they

were not locals and had settled in Wiltspoon. They normally kept a low profile and rarely attended

gatherings and events of the like. Hence, not many people knew of them.

“What about you?”

Carrie pretended not to know Serenity was the Yorks’ eldest daughter-in-law.

Serenity answered, “My husband’s a York. Mrs. Longbottom, I’ll make a move since my nephew is out.”

“See you, Mrs. York.”novelbin

“Aunt Ser.”

Sonny ran over to Serenity.

Serenity met him halfway and took his hand with a smile. “Don’t run so fast—I won’t leave you behind.

You can take your time walking out. Now, say bye-bye to the teacher.”

Sonny turned to wave goodbye to his teacher and skipped away, hand-in-hand with Serenity, as he told

her about the exciting things that had happened at school that day.

Carrie waved at them with a smile as they passed her.

Serenity said bye to Carrie too and led Sonny toward her car.

“Aunt Ser, who was that lady?” Sonny asked curiously.

Sonny acknowledged with an “oh”.

Then, he asked, “Aunt Ser, is Dunc not coming to get me?” Updated at Draм??оvels.cоm

Serenity teased the little boy. “Do you not want your Aunt Ser anymore now that you have Dunc?”

He did like Dunc more and more as time went by, but Dunc could never surpass Aunt Ser’s place in his

heart.
