The night passed peacefully.
The next morning, Camryn snuggled up to Callum as she felt the cold before she was fully awake.
Mornings at the manor were colder than those in the city.
In addition, they did not close the windows but simply had the thick curtains down.
That was why Camryn found it cold once the chilly morning air drifted into the room.
It was also raining outside. The rain had lowered the temperature and announced the arrival of winter.
After a week of chilly days, the temperature had increased. It had been hot days with the sun shining
brightly as it did in summer. Wiltspoonians only had to add another layer of clothing during early
mornings and late nights.
However, the rain turned the weather cold again.
Callum brought Camryn closer to him and tugged on the blanket without opening his eyes.
He only woke up a few minutes later due to the sound of the rain.
No wonder he felt the cold.
Callum pecked Camryn’s cheek before getting up stealthily. He went to the window and pushed the
curtains aside. The cold wind and droplets of rain greeted him.
He immediately closed the windows and curtains.
“Is it raining?” Camryn asked the moment Callum sat by the bedside.
“Yeah. It’s raining. Are you awake already? It’s still early. You can sleep more.”novelbin
Lying on her back, Camryn asked, “What time is it?”
Callum looked at the time displayed on his phone and answered, “It’s only six. You can sleep for
another half an hour. We’ll head back to the city after breakfast. We won’t be leaving just yet because
the rain is quite heavy and the winds are strong.”
If the rain got any heavier, he would tell Zachary he could not be in the office in the morning.
Camryn closed her eyes and said, “I’ll stay here for a little longer then. No wonder I felt cold. The
weather forecast mentioned the temperatures will be dropping. It’ll be as cold as the last time, about
forty degrees at night.”
She did not want to go out at all because of the cold weather. She simply wanted to lay in her bed.
Who would want to be outside if not to earn money and survive when the weather was especially cold
and rainy?
Callum laid on his back beside her and hugged her from behind. He said gently, “You’ll only snuggle up
to me when the weather’s cold. I hope it snows.”
Zachary used to not turn on the heater and opened the windows on purpose. He wanted to be
Serenity’s personal heater. Once the indoor temperature dropped, Serenity had no choice but to seek
warmth from Zachary.
Callum only knew about it because Zachary had let it slip once.
Callum never thought a person as serious as Zachary had so many tricks up his sleeves. He had
Serenity eating out of his hand.
“Wiltspoon doesn’t snow. Forty Fahrenheit at night is about as cold as Wiltspoon can get all year.”
