Chapter 2862

Julian forced a nervous smile and said, “I went to the gym, and Quinn mentioned she had something to

do and went out. I thought she went home.

“Anyway, is there anything I can help with?”

Zoey sat on the couch, and as she turned on the TV she said, “We’re having Italian tonight, and all the

ingredients are ready. You don’t need to do anything else. Julian, come over and chat with me.”

“Oh, sure.”

Julian was happy to chat with Zoey. He believed that the better he behaved, the more his future

mother-in-law would like him.

Julian poured a cup of water for Zoey and then sat down across from her with a warm smile on his

handsome face. He asked, “What would you like to talk about?”

“Just casual chatting. Talk about daily life, talk about children. As a housewife, these are the only things

I can talk about.”

Zoey put down the TV remote, looked at Julian, and suddenly asked, “Julian, you’re in your thirties and

still haven’t dated or married. Is it because your parents have high expectations? The girls you like, do

your parents disapprove of them, so you’re rebellious and don’t want to date or get married?”

Julian’s dark eyes flickered. Zoey rarely asked him such a question, and suddenly brought this up... Did

Quinn come back, and did the mother and daughter talk? Maybe Quinn informed her mother about his

sudden confession.

Was it Quinn or Zoey worried that the way to the Bucham family might not be easy?

“To be honest with you, my parents are very anxious. Their only requirement for my marriage is that the

partner must be a woman. As long as I’m willing to get married, they’re content. Their requirements for

a daughter-in-law are really not high.”

“While that’s what they’re telling you but when you truly meet a girl you like, and she’s not the type your

parents favor, their attitude will change. People are like that. When they don’t have something, they

want it. Once they have it, they want something better, and they become picky.”

It was human nature to want more. People’s hearts could never be truly satisfied.

Julian fell silent. He looked upstairs and seemed to catch a glimpse of someone who quickly retreated.

He knew Quinn was eavesdropping upstairs.

“Other parents might be like that, but not mine. There’s something I’ve been hiding from everyone, and

I apologize for not being able to say it earlier. The truth is, I have an illness. It’s because of this illness

that I’ve been single into my thirties."

Hearing this, Zoey widened her eyes, staring at Julian in disbelief, assessing him from head to toe.

Quinn, who was eavesdropping from upstairs, also froze.

Julian had an illness?

Was it because of his illness, that he was still unmarried in his thirties?

Was it beyond saving?

Was it something incurable?

He did not look like someone with a terminal illness.

That could only mean he was beyond saving.novelbin

Regaining her composure, Zoey asked, “What illness do you have? You look pretty healthy to me. You

don’t look like a sick person.”

“Quinn is upstairs, right? I want to be honest with her about everything.”

Zoey nodded instinctively.
