Chapter 2857

Quinn brought the hot chocolate back to the sofa in her room and sat down.novelbin

“Quinn, do you have something on your mind?” Zoey sat beside her and asked with concern.

“No, not at all.”

Quinn dared not meet her mother’s eyes, fearing that her guilt would be exposed.

She took a shallow sip and the excessive richness had her exclaiming, “Mom, did you put all the

chocolate we have at home in this? It’s so thick, I can’t drink it. I don’t want it.”

“Your cycle is irregular and you’ll be prone to cramps, so drinking this might help.”

Quinn admitted, “Well, actually, Mom, I lied to you. I’m perfectly fine.”

Zoey stared at her. “Lied to me? Child, how can you lie about your health? I was planning to buy you

some hormone-balancing tea and even probiotics. I thought you could regulate your cycle with those.

“You’re still young and unmarried. If your cycle isn’t regular, you should see a doctor to regulate it.

Don’t be shy or avoid medical help.”

Quinn replied, “Mom, do you think I’m the kind of person who would be shy? I really don’t have any

issues. I just came back early because I was afraid you’d scold me for being lazy and deduct my salary,

so I made up a lie.”

Luckily, her mom did not act too quickly. If she had started buying things for her, suggesting treatments,

or even taking her to see a doctor, and then found out she had been lying, Quinn would likely be

scolded thoroughly by her mom.

“You have thick skin, you don't seem like someone who would be shy.”

Zoey spoke frankly, “Tell me if you have anything on your mind. By the way, Julian hasn’t come back

yet today, right? He usually gets home by this time.”

Quinn pursed her lips before saying, “Mom, he’s a big CEO, he must be busy with work. Maybe he has

business dinners in the evening. Why are you so concerned about him? He’s just temporarily staying at

our house. This isn’t his home.”

Zoey looked at her, with a meaningful expression. “How na?ve.”

Quinn was speechless.

Thinking about Julian’s confession to her, Quinn silently cursed in her heart. Could it be that everyone

at home had figured it out, and none of them explicitly told her, letting her foolishly consider Julian as

just a buddy?

Being suddenly professed to by Julian caught her off guard.

So here she was, escaping back at home.

“Mom, what do you think of Julian?”

"He’s mysterious, but he treats you sincerely and is good to us. He respects me and your dad.”

Zoey had a favorable impression of Julian.

The more she looked at her potential son-in-law, the more she liked him.

Julian's staying at the Crawfords’ house allowed Zoey to see him every day, deepening her

understanding of him.

“Mysterious?”

Quinn did not expect her mother to describe Julian this way. In her eyes, Julian was straightforward,

with a gentle personality, easy to talk to—not someone mysterious.

When she saw Zachary, he gave her the impression of being mysterious.

Julian did not give her that kind of feeling.
