Chapter 2816

Hugh looked toward Hayden.

She returned to her seat and savored her coffee elegantly.

“You didn’t tell me Kevin was in your office,” Hugh scolded Hayden softly.

She said innocently, “You kept talking after you came in. Kevin appeared before I had the chance to

interrupt you. I winked at you, but you didn’t catch the hint. You even said something had gotten into

my eyes. Who can you blame when a hint was already given to you?

“I don’t regret what I said about Kevin. I’m just afraid he would take it to heart and tell you to leave me

by myself. He seems gentlemanly and friendly, but he’s a cunning man. I don’t even dare to go home

whenever he complains to Dad and Mom about me.”

Hugh regretted rambling to Hayden as soon as he entered the office.

“I suggest you go on a business trip for a while. Kevin even recorded the conversation on his phone.

He’ll definitely let Mom and Dad hear the recording. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You have too much

time on your hands. I dare bet my last name that our parents will pester you to marry.”

Hugh said, “I knew he was a sly thing. He keeps using Mom and Dad to bully me. I’ll go on that

business trip now. I’ll get an air ticket now and return half a month later.”

“I suddenly remembered that our subsidiary companies don’t need any help from the headquarters

now. I don’t know where I can assign you.”

Hugh’s expression darkened.

“Besides, you can’t escape forever. Jensburg is your roots. Your home is here. You’ll have to come

back sooner or later. I’m most probably getting married to Kevin. He’s going to be your brother-in-law.

You'll still have to deal with him unless you break all ties with me.”

“Don’t scare me, my dear sister. Tell me what I should do now.”

Hayden smiled and said, “I don’t know. You’re the one who offended me. You can try pleasing him and

ask him to let you off.”

“You’re my sister. Can you bear seeing your brother being bullied by Kevin?”

“Don’t worry. He won’t go overboard for my sake. He’ll think you’re too free and talkative at most, and

get you something to do. For example, helping Mom and Dad arrange a blind date for you and keepingnovelbin

an eye on you during the date. We’re just ten minutes apart. You’re at a suitable age to marry too.”

Hugh was speechless.

Why did he blabber on just now?

He said so many things that offended Kevin.

That cunning man even recorded his ramblings.

At that moment, Kevin brought a cup of coffee.

“Let me hold it, Kevin.”

Hugh immediately went to Kevin when he saw him walking out. He took the cup of hot coffee from his

hands.

“Thank you, Kevin.”

Hugh was like a dog that kept wagging its tail at Kevin.

“Don’t do this, Hugh. I’ll be shocked. I should be the one pleasing you and ensuring that you’re

satisfied. I don’t want you convincing Hayden to find another man. Moreover, as long as Hayden is

willing, I’m more than happy to be a live-in son-in-law.

“I have a house in Jensburg. I can live here long term even after marriage. You don’t have to be

worried about your parents not being able to see Hayden in time before they pass away.”

Hugh laughed awkwardly. Then, he slapped himself in the face and said, “I was being a prater, Kevin. I

was spewing nonsense. Please forgive me and forget whatever I said just now.”

“No. I wouldn’t have known I was lacking if you didn’t speak up. I couldn't even satisfy my only brother-

in-law.”
