Chapter 2803

“Carol’s marriage, sigh, it worries me too. Her mindset is different from ordinary people.”

Thinking about her own daughter who said she would have a child out of wedlock as her successor, as

long as the child did not want the father, Belinda found it distressing.

Even though Belinda's marriage with Hunter had issues in later years, after decades of being together, novelbin

there might not have been love but there was still affection.

Having a companion in old age at least prevented loneliness.

What did having sons and daughters matter?

When children grew up, they have their own families, work, and earn money. They had their own

children to care for, leaving very little attention for their parents.

One should not even think about children being by their side every day.

The one who could stay close was the spouse.

After the incident between Hunter and Celine, Belinda was furious. In the end, she drove Celine away

and demanded Hunter to live in seclusion while not divorcing him or chasing him away.

She was not worried that when she got old, Hunter might seek revenge. She was the head of the

Fisher family. Even if Caroline took over, she was still the matriarch living in the manor. Besides,

Caroline had a better relationship with Belinda, and hardly any feelings for Hunter.

When Belinda was too old to move, Hunter might have already passed away, considering Hunter was a

few years older than her.

All in all, Belinda hoped her daughter could find a husband and lead a normal married life, instead of

just marrying someone casually to have a successor.

Hunter did not respond.

His daughter was not close to him.

Who Caroline married and welcomed into the family was not his decision to make.

Last time when Hunter wanted to help his daughter by introducing a boyfriend, not only did Caroline not

like it, but she also blamed him for introducing a useless heir.

How many men were willing to be a son-in-law in the Fisher family?

If it were not for the wealth and the status of the Fisher family, he would not have married into the

family either.

He had envisioned that he and the daughter born to Belinda would eventually take over the Fisher

family’s legacy. By then, he would be the master of the family; his hardships in his youth would be paid

off and he could reap the benefits in his old age.

Little did he know that fate had other plans.

His biological daughter was swapped, and by the time she returned, he had missed the opportunity to

foster a connection with her. Consequently, he had no father-daughter bond with his own flesh and

blood.

“It’s late, you should go to sleep. I also need some rest. I’ll be back to the office tomorrow. Let Adrian

and the others take turns looking after you.”

Hunter was currently not in life-threatening danger, having stayed in the hospital for a couple of days.

Belinda could now go to work with peace of mind and no longer needed to spend every day in the

hospital looking after this old man.

Hunter said with slight anxiety, “If our son comes, he’ll know the specifics of my injuries.”

Caroline already knew, informed by Belinda. However, since he and Caroline were not close, even if

she looked down on him, he did not care.

It would be a different story if his son were to find out that he had become a eunuch. He would feel

utterly ashamed.

Belinda said sarcastically, “Are you afraid that your son will find out? Want to ask Celine to take care of

you instead?”

Hunter was silent.

After a pause, Belinda said, “Alright, I’ll take care of you for a few more days. I’ll return to work next

Monday.”

By next Monday, Hunter should be able to be discharged from the hospital. From then on, he could live

his own life, avoiding his sons.

Hunter did not dare say anything more.

Belinda walked out and had someone bring in a folding mattress, placing it in the lounge where she

would sleep.

There was also a family bed next to Hunter’s sickbed, but Belinda decided not to use it.

She did not want to share a room with Hunter.

Although they retained their relationship as a married couple, it was only for the sake of their children

and grandchildren.
