Chapter 2774

At least Hayden met with Caroline.

If others came over, Hayden might not necessarily meet them.

After taking the elevator down to the first floor, Caroline said to Darren, “You go back to the company.

I’ll head home to take care of family matters. Mom has been busy these days.”

Belinda was still at the hospital “taking care” of Hunter.

Darren had also heard about an incident in the Fisher family, but the specifics were unknown to the

people at the company. All they knew was that Belinda and her three sons had not returned to the

company, leaving Caroline to oversee things.

This led to discussions among employees. Despite Caroline often being scolded by Belinda as

ineffectual, she was Belinda’s biological daughter. If something truly happened in the Fisher family, she

would ultimately be the one to carry the weight.

Those who had tried to block Caroline from taking a higher position were now scrambling, attempting

various means to meet with Belinda and questioning what Caroline had done.

Caroline was not like she used to be, swallowing her pride and portraying herself as weak in the

company. Those who were trying to climb up were not in very crucial positions. She fired them from

Fisher Enterprise. For those with slightly higher positions, she demoted them and cut their pay.

For those dismissed, Caroline blacklisted them in the industry, ensuring they could not find

opportunities in good, reputable companies, only struggling in smaller ones where the income and

benefits could not compare to those at Fisher Enterprise. Caroline would rather compensate a bit upon

dismissal than allow them to stay.

The knowledge of the aftermath for those dismissed from Fisher Enterprise had deterrent effects.

Everyone was here to earn a living, to support their families. For the sake of their loved ones, they

could not afford to be jobless.

The internal struggles within the top echelons of Fisher Enterprise meant little to them.

Regardless of who rose to power, they were all part of the Fisher family. They could not ascend, so

what benefits could they gain from joining any faction?

It was better to focus on doing one’s job well. Regardless of who took the position, good employees

would receive fair treatment and would not be targeted by those in power. With good performance,

once the new leadership stabilized, these honest and hardworking employees might even gain

recognition for their work.

“Alright.”

Caroline allowed Darren to take a taxi back to the office, and the fare would be reimbursed by the

company.

She drove herself home.

The matter concerning the bodyguard who had died in place of Liberty still had to be dealt with.

Caroline was now going back to handle this.

Liberty mentioned that she would come by in the evening to offer prayers, console the deceased’s

family, and provide some financial assistance.

Even though the deceased bodyguard’s parents had passed away, survived by his younger brother

who was dependent on him to support his education. Now he had tragically met with an accident that

no one wished for. Liberty, experiencing such things for the first time, felt a sense of guilt. She came to

visit, but she could not pass it off in her conscience.

Hayden stood by the window and watched. She was not intentionally focusing on Caroline leaving, but

rather taking a moment to rest. Standing by the window allowed her to gaze at the scenery,

occasionally spotting flying birds.

There were many evergreen trees within the compounds of Queen Enterprise, and birds often built

their nests in these trees.

However, Jensburg was colder than Wiltspoon. Although it had not started snowing heavily, it was still

quite chilly. There were little birds in sight. Come spring, when the flowers were in full bloom, the

beautiful scene of singing birds and blossoms would reappear.

Ring, ring, ring…

Her phone started ringing.

Hayden turned away from the window and returned to her desk where her phone was placed.

The caller ID showed “Mr. Shameless”. It was Kevin.

In her contacts, she had amusingly labeled Kevin as “Mr. Shameless.”

Hayden suddenly felt the urge to laugh. She thought she would change Kevin’s contact name after their

conversation to avoid any awkwardness if he happened to see it someday.novelbin
