Carrie asked in confusion, “Since you are targeting Mrs. Young-Johnson’s adopted son, why don’t you
directly find someone to help you in Annenburg? The distance between Wiltspoon and Annenburg is
quite far. Even if she and Serenity are close, they don’t meet often.”
Mr. Longbottom sighed. “That’s the unavoidable part.”
“There was absolutely no trace of Laurence in Annenburg. We only knew that Laurence was the
adopted son of Ben and his wife. However, no one outside knew what the child looked like.
“Moreover, Laurence rarely stayed in Annenburg. We did not know where the kid usually hides.

The middle-aged man did not mention that he was truly afraid of the elders behind Jane, those
mysterious and extraordinary individuals.
He just wanted to take Laurence away!
He would avoid a direct conflict if possible.
Carrie said, “Do you think Serenity doesn’t have backing? She is selective in making friends,
considering character and affinity, not just family background. I hate her so much, and I’m afraid that if I
see her, I won’t be able to control myself from strangling her. How can I become friends with her?”
Not to mention being a friend whom Serenity could completely trust.
Other than her family members, the only other person she trusted wholeheartedly was Jasmine.
Carrie admitted that she was unable to achieve that.
“However, if your target is the child, I might be able to succeed. Even if I don’t gain Serenity’s complete
trust, I will be able to visit her home frequently if I manage to befriend her. That way, I’ll have plenty of
chances to meet the little boy.
“I recall that Serenity’s nephew is around the age of three. The boy you’re looking for should be around
the same age as Sonny, so he must have just started preschool.
“It’s not summer and the winter holidays haven’t started. Those two boys probably won’t even meet.”
Mr. Longbottom agreed. “I understand. That’s why I said our partnership won’t be a walk in the park. If
everything goes smoothly, it might take a year or two. If not, it might take ten years or more.
“Or even longer. But no matter how long, I can afford to wait.”
Now forced aboard Mr. Longbottom’s metaphorical pirate ship, Carrie said, “Fine, I’ll do it. Once it's
done, don’t forget to keep your promises. Everything from the Newman family rightfully belongs to me! I
am the most beloved child of my parents; everything should be mine!
“I will give you Camryn Newman. Do whatever you want with her.”
Carrie added maliciously, “If that day really comes, heh, I want to see her despair. I want to see her
kneeling in front of me, begging me to save her, to spare her, haha!”
She hated two women the most, Serenity and Camryn.
If it were not for the two, she would still be the Newmans’ young lady. Her parents would not have been
imprisoned, and her life would not have taken such a drastic turn. She would not have to be the
mistress of an old man either!
Revenge was a dish best served cold.
She would endure it.
Until the day came when she would reap the benefits.
