Chapter 2656

“I won’t interfere with your life if we have just met for the first time, whether about casually speaking or

doing things. But now, you’re my wife. We want to live a long, healthy life together. I must look out for

you and try my best to keep you healthy.”

Serenity thought to herself, ‘It seems like he thinks I’ll live forever and never get sick just because he

looks after me.

‘Then again, we are what we eat after all.’

Anyway, she still had to watch her meals.

She thought about this but remained silent, accepting her husband's advice quietly.

After finishing his meal, Duncan put down his cutlery.

Sonny considerately handed him a tissue.

Duncan patted the child's head. He genuinely liked and cared for this kid.

“Sonny, did your mom mention Dunc before she left on her business trip?"

Sonny nodded. “Mom told me to keep an eye on you more and not let you do anything dangerous. She

never thought you couldn’t walk or that you’d be a burden to her.”

These words were spoken by Liberty to Zachary and Serenity and were now relayed verbatim to

Duncan.

“Did you send your mom to the airport?”

Sonny immediately lowered his head and said, “Mom didn’t let me or Aunt Seren go. Mom took a car

and left with some uncles.”

Even though he often stayed with his aunt, he felt a little sad that his mom did not take him on her long

trips.

She said she had some errands to run and it was not convenient for him to tag along, so she left him

with Serenity.

She did, however, promise to take him on a vacation during winter break, to the north to see and play in

the snow, and build snowmen.

She even promised to take him to visit the Johnsons and meet Laurence in Annenburg.

After being comforted by his mom, he obediently stayed at home without making a fuss.

Unlike Duncan. When Liberty did not bring Duncan along, he actually locked himself in his room. He

did not eat or leave the room. He even needed a child to convince him to eat.

Now that he thought about it, Sonny felt great about himself. He sat up straight, raised his chin, and

puffed his chest, looking full of himself.

Zachary continued after Sonny, “I’ve assigned Jim and Milo to accompany Liberty to Jensburg as

bodyguards. Aunt Audrey sent a few men as well. Combined with your personnel, she won’t be in any

danger.

“Kevin is also in Jensburg, not to mention that Hayden is a local there. They’ll definitely lend Liberty a

hand, so don’t worry.

“Duncan, when Liberty’s in Jensburg, she truly can't split her attention to take care of you. Even thoughnovelbin

you have bodyguards looking out for you, she still needs to spare you some of her attention. She

doesn't think you're a burden and certainly doesn’t mind that you can't walk. Don't overthink it, and

don't feel like you're useless”

After a pause, he added, “In the future, she will have to go to Jensburg frequently, and might even need

to stay in Jensburg and expand her business there.

“You can't keep arguing with my sister-in-law every time, can you? If you genuinely want to be her pillar

of support, persist in rehabilitation, maintain a positive mindset, and continue doing what you've been

doing during this time. Work, meet clients, discuss business—there's nothing you can't do.

“Right now, you may not be in your best physical condition, but it doesn't hinder you from managing

your company. You're still the impressive Mr. Lewis. Don't always think that others pity you or consider

you useless or a burden.”

Duncan remained silent.

He knew his best friend meant well.

However, the woman he loved was about to go to a faraway place, where she might even face some

danger, and he could not be there with her or protect her. He genuinely thought he was useless.
