Chapter 2652

“I know, I know. I care about your brother-in-law, so you can rest assured and go ahead with your big

plans.”

Afraid that Liberty would continue to nag, Serenity quickly surrendered and changed the topic, not

wanting a lecture just before she departed.

“When will you come back?”

Serenity asked with concern, “If you can’t come back every now and then, both Sonny and I will miss

you.”

“Well, it’s hard to say. When I have time, I’ll definitely come back. My home is in Wiltspoon, and my

family and friends are all here. Why worry that I won’t come back after going to Jensburg?”

Liberty playfully poked her sister’s forehead and added, “Stop hugging me, how old are you? Still

acting cute, Sonny will feel embarrassed seeing you like this.”

“Even if I’m a hundred years old, in front of you, I’m still the little sister.”

While Liberty was catching up and leaving instructions to Serenity, Duncan shut himself in his room and

refused to come out.

The door was even locked, and no matter how much Corey and others knocked, he would not open it.

Duncan was cognizant that Audrey was the biological daughter of the last Fisher matriarch in Jensburg

and might dig into the past. Even if she could not figure it out, there was a possibility that she might

reclaim the position of the Fisher family head.

However, her daughter Elisa might not be suitable for the position.

Serenity was also not an option. She was the missus of the York family and was now pregnant. In thenovelbin

future, she would have to manage the York household and take care of her own business. It seemed

impossible for her to handle multiple responsibilities.

Only Liberty had the least amount of stress. Although she owned a breakfast shop and a restaurant, it

was still relatively manageable. Among the three cousins, Liberty was the oldest. If the position of the

Fisher family’s matriarch returned to where it belonged, the last matriarch’s bloodline, then Liberty

would most likely be the candidate to take over.

However, Duncan did not expect it to be so soon.

Liberty was about to head to Jensburg this afternoon.

Publicly, she was there to do market research and to explore business opportunities.

In reality, she was shouldering the responsibility of uncovering the truth behind the murder of the

previous head of the Fisher family. Plus, she was there to get familiar with their family affairs, and to

compete with Caroline.

Liberty was a foreigner in Jensburg. She had no connections or confidants there. In terms of power,

she was no match against the true heiress of the Fisher family, Caroline.

Every step of the way was challenging for her in Jensburg.

Although Zachary and the Stone family would assign bodyguards to protect Liberty, Duncan still felt a

sense of self-blame.

He thought he could not be of use to Liberty when she was in Jensburg, because he was utterly

useless.

Still, he suggested accompanying her to Jensburg.

Alas, he was rejected by Liberty.

She said she was there for business, and that she might be too busy to take care of him.

What she said was true. He thought he might just be a burden to her, even though she did not show

any kind of disdain toward him.

He was a cripple!

He could not do anything to help her and only made things worse by being a burden.
