Chapter 2363

The Browns were not blessed enough to keep a good daughter-in-law like Liberty.

“The doctor said I could be discharged and recuperate at home. Staying in the hospital is expensive.”

Hank added, “I almost depleted my family’s assets.”

He planned to follow his parents back to their hometown and sell the house they owned in the city.

Otherwise, his family would struggle financially.

Since he had included Jessica’s name on the title deed, he needed to inform her beforehand that the

house would be sold.

Jessica had been found guilty in two cases and sentenced to prison for decades.

She utterly regretted her wrongdoings.

Liberty nodded. She said, “Rest well at home and don’t think about working just yet. You can pay

Sonny’s child support for the following year after you resume working.”

Chelsea wanted to chime in at that point. She felt Liberty was too cruel for demanding Hank to pay

child support despite his weak state.

However, Hank said quickly, “Don’t worry. Sonny’s my son. We agreed to raise him together when we

got divorced. I won’t run away from my responsibilities.”novelbin

What could Chelsea say then?

She would not be able to get any benefits from her family anymore. To make things worse, they might

try to gain something from her.

Chelsea decided she would not visit home as often anymore.

Hank was clueless about his sister’s thoughts.

After a short pause, Hank took an envelope and a velvet box from his pocket. The box contained a gold

bracelet. It was his and his parents’ wedding gift to Serenity.

He passed the envelope and velvet box to Liberty, saying, “We won’t be attending Serenity’s wedding,

but my parents and I prepared a small gift for her. Please pass these to her for me.”

In reality, they could not attend Serenity’s wedding even if they wanted to as she would never invite the

Browns to her wedding.

Liberty did not accept the items. She said calmly, “Your kindness is much appreciated, but you must’ve

spent a fortune on your hospital fees. You’re also out of commission while your parents are old with

little pension. Serenity won’t accept your gift.”

The sisters tolerated the Browns solely because of Sonny.

The gift meant little to Serenity. If it were possible, she would rather not meet them at all.

Liberty knew Serenity would refuse the gift without asking her about it.

Hank said, “Is it because our gift isn’t expensive enough?”

“What doesn’t Serenity have now? Your gift is indeed meager, but she isn’t snobbish. She just hates

you all. She’ll never accept your gift. If you insist on giving it to her, she might return it or even throw it.

“We can’t possibly forget what happened in the past, Hank. Sonny is the only thing that’s connecting us

right now. I hope you all won’t appear before our eyes again.”

Hank’s face paled. He withdrew his hand and held the envelope tightly, looking embarrassed.

“Sorry to have disturbed you, Liberty.”

Hank apologized. Then he said, “I feel dizzy, Chelsea. Take me home.”

Although Chelsea was dissatisfied, she dared not say anything. She helped Hank move toward her car.

Hank turned to look at Duncan before entering the car. He told Duncan, “Please treat Liberty well, Mr.

Lewis. She’s a good woman. I was careless.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll treasure her for life. You were indeed careless. I’m honored to be Liberty’s forever

home.”

Hank’s face paled even further. Since Liberty did not even correct Duncan, their relationship must have

gotten more intimate while he was hospitalized.

He was certain Liberty would get married to Duncan in the future.
