Chapter 2271

Once out of the restaurant, Olivia put her hand out to her daughter.

“What do you want, Mom?

Chelsea played dumb.

Olivia said, “Give me the five-thousand-dollar cash gift Liberty returned.”

“Mom, my building supply business hasn’t been doing well lately. I haven’t turned a profit, and I’m

struggling to put food on the table for my family of five. The five thousand dollars would be a great help.

Besides, I’m glad I was there when Hank had an accident. Hank only survived because I shielded him,

but I got hurt in the process.

“Jessica might be behind bars, but I didn’t get any medical compensation. I paid for my hospital bills.

Hank and the wicked woman aren’t even divorced and she’s still your daughter-in-law. Your daughter-

in-law harmed your daughter. Consider the five thousand dollars as compensation.”

Olivia poked her daughter on the forehead. “Don't cry to me about being poor. Your father and I have

helped you plenty, but it's never enough. The situation at home is different now. We spent our entire

savings on Hank's hospital stay. Your father and I had to scrape together the last five thousand dollars.

Don't think I don't know how much money you and your husband have saved up. It's at least a million

dollars. Your building supply store is doing well. I may have been spending a lot of time in the hospital,

but that doesn't mean I'm dumb.

“Hank is not cleared for discharge yet, and the bills keep piling up. Of all times, you want to get money

from your parents now? Think about it. Hank has helped you a lot in the past. You only visited your

brother when you wanted to eat something different. Liberty literally attended to your family hand and

foot. You have made a habit of taking advantage of them, but your parents and brother are not doing

well now.”

Chelsea unwillingly pulled out the envelope and returned the money to her mother.

She mumbled, “Liberty is loaded now. Sure, she and Hank are divorced, but Hank is Sonny’s father.

You could ask for money from Liberty to pay for Hank’s hospital bills. Liberty will offer financial

assistance for Sonny’s sake.”novelbin

Olivia pinched her daughter's cheek with force, her anger evident in her eyes.

Chelsea was in excruciating pain.

“Liberty doesn't owe us or Hank a thing. She has to spend a lot of time, energy, and money raising

Sonny since the child is with her full-time. It's bad enough that we don't help her, so why should we ask

her for money? I bet your father would slap some sense into you if he or Hank heard what you said.”

Olivia yelled at her daughter, then realized that she was the one to blame. “We didn’t do a good job at

educating you at home. You’re a selfish ingrate who takes advantage of your parents and brother. Why

don’t you rip your in-laws off instead?”

“Enough, Mom. I’ve returned the money to you. I know I’m not a good person, but I’m still your

daughter. I love taking advantage of Hank, but I also risked my life to save him when he was in trouble.”

Chelsea turned to admire the renovated exterior of All You Can Eat Restaurant, her envy evident in her

voice. "I'll smile in my sleep if I can open a successful restaurant.”

“With your cooking skills, you'll put the restaurant in the red. Liberty owes her business success to her

good cooking and her sister's connection to the York family. Come on, now. Stop embarrassing yourself

by dropping in at Liberty's place.”

Olivia reamed Chelsea out and then walked away, leaving her daughter behind. Chelsea grumbled

under her breath with her words a mystery to all but herself. Instead of following her mother, Chelsea

turned around and went on her way.

Meanwhile, Julian drove a seven-seater MPV to Wiltspoon Hotel.

He had the same vehicle that Zachary used to trick Serenity before. It was new too; clearly, he had just

bought it. Unlike Zachary, he did not buy the car to pretend to be poor.
