Chapter 2264

Liberty turned up right outside Duncan’s office.

She knocked on the door and only entered the room once given permission.

Duncan sat behind his desk while his wheelchair was parked to the side. If he needed to leave the

office, Duncan could leverage the table to transfer himself to his wheelchair.

His two personal bodyguards were nowhere to be found. They were probably on standby in the lobby.

Duncan was back in the office to take care of business, so his bodyguards could not possibly stay by

his side all the time.

He had his secretary when he needed help in the office.

Hearing the familiar footsteps, Duncan lifted his head and saw Liberty. He stood up with the support of

the table and tried to make his way around.

Liberty immediately stopped him. “Sit there. Don’t move. I don’t want you to fall.”

Duncan said with a grin, “Alright. I'll stay put. My legs aren't quite cooperating yet.”

Nevertheless, Duncan's recovery was progressing, and he was doing much better than when he was

first discharged from the hospital.

“You’re doing much better. Keep up with your physiotherapy. Maybe you will be able to walk again

before the New Year.”

Liberty drew close, put down the takeaway, and helped him back onto the seat.

Duncan smiled and said, “It’s only a few months to the New Year. Despite my best efforts, it is unlikely

that I will be able to walk unassisted by then. The doctor said it’d take a year at the very least to walk

again.”

He would probably spend the next two years in a wheelchair if his recovery stalled. By then, Duncan

would be thirty-eight, and Liberty would be thirty-three. It would not be too late to marry at that age

either.

Even if they were in their forties or fifties, Duncan would be happy and willing to wait until Liberty wasnovelbin

ready to marry him.

“It’ll be amazing if you can recover in a year. You’ve always been an amazing person, Mr. Lewis.”

Amused, Duncan replied, “You’re complimenting me like I’m Sonny.”

“I hope Sonny didn’t wake up when he got back last night.”

Liberty opened the takeaway bag, took out the breakfast, and placed it in front of Duncan.

“He slept like a log, and nothing could wake him up. The little man told me he didn’t want to go to

preschool after he took a shower and got dressed this morning.”

Liberty started nagging Duncan, “You, too. You went to the diner this morning but didn’t get breakfast.

Must you starve yourself? You’re only hurting yourself. No one can take the pain for you.”

The nagging did not get under Duncan’s skin. In fact, the grin on his face was wider than ever. He did

not mind Liberty’s nagging as it was her way of showing she cared for him.

Otherwise, she would not have bothered if he starved to death.

“I couldn’t eat because I didn’t see you there.”

Liberty was at a loss for words.

They saw each other every day, yet Duncan still said things like that.

“Why doesn’t Sonny want to attend preschool anymore? He was stoked at the beginning of the school

year. What changed his mind?”
