Chapter 2248

Now that Liberty was a businesswoman, she upgraded her wardrobe to reflect the change.

Liberty was gorgeous, to begin with. She managed to shed the extra pounds and shine through it all

like a phoenix rising from the ashes. She was radiant and became the center of attention wherever she

went.

A beautiful woman always attracted attention. Besides, Liberty was a divorcee who lived alone with her

son; a fact those who knew her were aware of. This made her more desirable to many men.

One of them might act with ill intent, but there was no way to know for sure.

“I advised her to accept Zachary’s gift and move into The Oasis. I have a villa there too, so I can live in

the area if she decides to move there. We can look after each other. I can keep her company or have

our bodyguard escort her.”

“Liberty can be stubborn.”

Corey remembered the time she met with Liberty to persuade her to leave Wiltspoon. Liberty refuted

her to the point of speechlessness.

She knew Liberty was a woman of principles, and the woman proved it through her actions.

“She is indeed stubborn.” Duncan sighed.

He happened to fall in love with that stubborn woman.

Corey fell silent for a while before uttering, “She has her aunt’s personality, and she had to be tough to

be able to leave the godforsaken home with her sister. She raised her sister all on her own and taught

her well.”

Serenity’s excellence was a result of her personal efforts, but Liberty’s nurturing and education played

a huge role in her development.

While Liberty opted out of extracurricular activities, she spent the dole for her sister to take up hobbies

and skills. The life insurance from their parents only covered the sisters’ schooling, so the expenses for

Serenity’s activities likely came from Liberty’s part-time job.

Liberty attached a lot of importance to education and she was only a teenager then.

“Serenity is grateful to her sister. Liberty was like a mother to her. Now that Serenity is enjoying a better

life, she wants to show her appreciation to her sister, but Liberty is worried that accepting the property

from Zachary would subject Serenity to criticism. She doesn’t want to be a burden to Serenity.”

“Liberty won’t accept any gifts from Zachary or the York family, and Serenity can’t do anything about it.”

“I was on the phone with Liberty just now and tried to persuade her. I reminded her to prioritize Sonny’s

and Serenity’s needs. Serenity can only focus on her pregnancy when Liberty and Sonny are safe.”

“What did she say?”

Corey believed it was better for Liberty to move into The Oasis. The security system was top-notch.

Duncan sighed. “She said she’d think about it. I’ll mention it to Zachary tomorrow so that Serenity could

talk to her. Serenity and Sonny matter the most to Liberty. I hope Serenity can convince Liberty.”

“She should move for Serenity’s and Sonny’s sake. Nothing happened tonight, but who’s to say about

the future? She can’t wait until something bad happens before taking action.”

Corey poured her son a glass of water and asked, “When are you and Liberty going to be together?”

“Mom, I can’t even walk on my own yet. Dating is not in the cards for me right now.”

He kept by Liberty’s side and showered her with attention, but he stopped talking to her aboutnovelbin

romance.

Duncan was now confined to the wheelchair and would only be a burden to her.

“Liberty is special to you. Keep up with your physiotherapy. I think if you propose to Liberty on the day

you recover, she will say yes. I can’t wait until the day Sonny calls me his grandma.”

Sonny was not related to the Lewises, but Corey was happy to treat him as her grandson.
