Chapter 2246

Serenity was only ten when her parents passed away and since then, Liberty had practically raised her.

The bond between the sisters went deep beyond that. Liberty was like a mother to Serenity.

Since Serenity became Mrs. York, Liberty was glad to accept help from her sister and Zachary on

major matters. However, she firmly refused any handouts when it concerned her everyday life.

Zachary and Serenity were at their wit’s end when it came to Liberty’s stubbornness. No one, not even

Audrey, could shake her attitude and talk her out of it.

“Mr. Lewis, I’ve been living here for a long time. It’s a safe area, and nothing ever happened. I ran into

a drunk man tonight, but that’s all. I’ll be careful not to come home late like this again. Today’s incident

was an exception.

“It’s bad enough I can’t be a safety net my sister can fall back on, but you can’t expect me to mooch off

her. A property in The Oasis cost tens of millions, and Zachary bought the biggest villa in the area. I

believe the villa is worth close to a hundred million dollars. There’s no way I can accept such an

expensive gift from him.”

If it was only an apartment worth a million dollars, Liberty would swallow her pride and accept the

property for her son’s safety.

However, Zachary was filthy rich, and the least expensive property he owned was the apartment in

Brynfield. That was the sole apartment unit under his name as his impressive real estate portfolio

comprised entire buildings or villas.

Hence Zachary gave Liberty the huge villa in The Oasis.

Knowing Liberty, she would be too proud to accept such an expensive gift.

Duncan said, “Liberty, don’t even think that way. Zachary has a lot of properties. He loves Serenity and

sees you as family. He wants the best for you, just like Serenity does. You deserve it, so don’t feel like

you don’t.

“Plus, your work will only become demanding, and late nights will only get more frequent. Even if

Serenity can take Sonny home, we’ll be worried about you going home alone. What if you bump into

the drunk man again and he attacks you?

“You can never be too careful. Don’t forget what happened to Sonny. Safety always comes first, Liberty.

Mr. and Mrs. Newman are convicted and behind bars, but Carrie will soon be released. Who knows if

she’ll try to get revenge?

“Zachary and Serenity are always surrounded by their security detail to ensure their safety. Besides,

Serenity can fight and fend for herself. You and Sonny are a different story. You might think you are an

ordinary person who doesn’t need protection, but you have connections to those in the higher social

class. Sure, most people wouldn’t dare mess with you, but you make the perfect targets for desperados

and criminals.

“It’s unsafe for you to remain there, and you might become a burden to your sister too.

“Think about it, Liberty. If anything were to happen to you and Sonny, Serenity would be the one to

freak out. She’s pregnant, and it wasn’t easy for her to get pregnant. Pregnancy can be emotionallynovelbin

challenging, and you don’t want to add to her anxiety… Please take my advice and accept the villa for

Serenity’s sake. The Oasis can keep you safe.”

The Oasis was Julian’s turf.

Julian, the heir of the Buchams, was a man to be reckoned with. No one in the region, let alone

Wiltspoon, had the guts to cross him.

It was easy to be fooled by Julian’s cheeky and smiley nature. Like Josh, there was more to Julian than

met the eye. In fact, Josh learned from Julian how to hide behind a mask.

Duncan’s words triggered memories of the kidnap attempt against her son. Liberty had been stabbed

multiple times, and the incident scared her sister and son horribly. Serenity, who was now pregnant,

would be devastated if anything were to happen to Liberty again. Serenity’s pregnancy was more

important to Liberty than anything else, especially since Serenity had been trying so long for a baby.

The last thing Liberty wanted was for Serenity to worry about her during her pregnancy.

“I’ll think about it, Mr. Lewis.”

This time, Liberty did not give a straight refusal.
