Chapter 2195

The Soxes did not know that Josh and Jasmine were coming for lunch.

When they heard the car honking, Mrs. Sox even told her husband, “Did I mishear? Why does it sound

like it’s coming from our gate?”

Mr. and Mrs. Sox were the only ones having lunch.

The youngsters had to work and did not have time to eat at home.

Their parents were also out visiting relatives.

Mr. Sox said, “The dog didn’t bark. It’s probably not outside our home. Maybe our neighbor’s son has

brought his girlfriend back again.”novelbin

“When can our son bring his girlfriend back?”

Mrs. Sox sighed.

Their daughter had gotten married, but their son still had no girlfriend.

“Why are you anxious when our son isn’t even worried? He’s still young.”

Next, the sound of the gate opening could be heard.

The couple exchanged glances when they heard it open.

Mrs. Sox put down her cutleries and got up. She walked out of the house.

She saw their dog facing the main gate and wagging its tail.

“Jasmine’s back, Carlson.”

Mrs. Sox saw her daughter’s car and delightedly called out to her husband. She descended the stairs

and walked a short distance before stopping. Then, she went to the backseat after the bodyguard had

parked the car.

When the car door opened, her son-in-law appeared in her sight first. Her grin grew wider until her eyes

narrowed and her teeth were visible.

“Mom.”

Josh got out of the car and greeted his mother-in-law sweetly.

He turned to help his wife to exit the car but realized she had gotten out from the other side.

Jasmine even helped to carry some stuff when she exited the car.

“You’re here, Josh. Have you eaten? Why didn’t you call us beforehand?” Mrs. Sox asked with a smile.

She glanced behind her son-in-law and noticed her daughter getting out from the other side of the car.

She invited her son-in-law into the house enthusiastically.

“I just got off work. Since Jasmine wanted to come back for lunch, we came right away. Is there enough

food for us both, Mom?” Josh asked as he entered the house with his mother-in-law.

“Mom,” Jasmine greeted.

The two bodyguards got out of the car too.

Carlson came out and welcomed everyone into the house.

Mrs. Sox smiled and said, “I’d always cook extra for every meal in case any one of you didn’t have

anything to eat when you make a sudden return. We also rear many chickens and ducks here. There’s

no need to worry about having leftovers.”

“You have so many chickens and ducks, Mom.”

Josh said with a smile, “Where do you rear them?”

“Jasmine’s uncle has a few strawberry farms. We placed the chickens and ducks we bought at her

uncle’s strawberry farms and would eat them on special occasions. They’re free-range chickens. I’ll

give you guys a few to eat for the New Year’s celebrations.”

Mrs. Sox was a landlady. The rent she collected monthly was a six-figure.

However, she still retained her past habits.

She would catch many chickens to rear yearly and have them on special occasions. She also visited

her relatives often.

“Free-range chickens are delicious. I guess I’m in for a treat.”

Josh laughed.

He never expressed any disdain over his mother-in-law giving him chickens as a gift.

“I’ll catch another brood of chickens to rear again soon. Jasmine can eat them after she gives birth.

Women in villages would eat a whole chicken per day for a month after giving birth.”

Jasmine said, “Mom, how can I finish one chicken a day? I’m sick of eating chicken.”
