Chapter 2182

Mrs. Lane said, “When I left yesterday, the door was locked. I was wondering why it’s not locked today.

It turned out that you’re back, Missus.”

The moment the pet dog saw Serenity, it wagged its tail and scurried toward her.

Serenity said with a smile, “Snowball.”

She touched Snowball’s head and it lay obediently by the side of her leg.

“Mrs. Lane, we came back last night.”

Mrs. Lane grinned and said, “Missus, you should’ve given me a call so I could prepare great food for

you.”

“No worries. This place is close to the market.”

Mrs. Lane had been working for Serenity, so the both of them were close. Mrs. Lane knew that Serenity

would not put on airs. Even if Serenity did, Mrs. Lane dared not act unscrupulously.

When Mrs. Lane noticed that Zachary was busy preparing in the kitchen, she promptly went over to

help him out.

Zachary said, “I’ve cooked pulled pork with sauerkraut. Mrs. Lane, you don’t need to help out. You can

go to the balcony and look after the plants. When we weren’t around, you looked after the plants so

well. I’ll increase your salary for the month.”

Mrs. Lane answered with a smile, “Thank you, Sir. You’ve increased my salary several times.”

The increase in Mrs. Lane’s and Jim’s salaries was the biggest and quickest.

The two of them were self-motivated and listened to Serenity.

“I’ll forget it, then.”

Mrs. Lane said, “Sir, please feel free to increase my salary a few more times.”

Zachary chuckled. “I was kidding. I said I’ll increase your salary, and I’ll do it.”

“Thank you.”

With a grin, Mrs. Lane headed to the balcony to look after the plants.

Liberty took out the shrimps she had steamed before asking Mrs. Lane, “Mrs. Lane, have you eaten?”

“I have. Don’t worry about me.”

Mrs. Lane saw some weeds growing in the flower pots. She squatted and pulled out the weeds.

It was Serenity who filled the soil in the pot previously. The soil carried the weed seeds, whichnovelbin

explained why weeds would grow from time to time.

At first, there were a lot of ants. Ant killers must be used occasionally.

Now, there were hardly any ants.

“Nana, Seren, wash your hands and have breakfast.”

Zachary placed the dishes where his beloved wife would often sit. He asked Grandma May and

Serenity over to have breakfast.

Grandma May held Serenity’s hand and said in a low voice, “Look, after training your husband, all you

need to do is wait for food to be served. How nice.”

Serenity grasped Grandma May’s arm and held her up from where they were sitting. She said softly,

“Nana, I think you’re my biological grandmother.”

Since she married Zachary, Grandma May had favored her.

Grandma May would not favor Zachary only because he was her biological grandson.

“I’m a woman too. When Zack’s grandfather was still alive, I was blessed. Zack takes after his

grandfather in every way.”

Grandma May loved Zack because she raised him since he was young. Also, he looked like her late

husband.

“How wonderful it would be if that old man were still alive,” Grandma May uttered nostalgically.

After she was done choosing partners for her grandsons and met her great-granddaughters-in-law, she

would probably be reunited with the old man.

She missed the old man badly. She wondered if he was waiting for her.

Would he have gone to his next life alone?

The old man said he would want to know Grandma May and love her in his next life.
