“There’s a famous saying that if women want to live a good life after marriage, they should be capable
people or have a strong family behind them.
“I only have one daughter now too. If Clo-clo were to move to a distant place after marriage, I definitely
wouldn’t be able to bear it, let alone Ben. His daughter is like a rare gem to him. He loves her so much
that he’s already guarding her against Laurence and Mr. Ormond’s son.”
Serenity could not help but laugh. “Laurence is only three years old. What does he know? Iris’s son is
the same age as your two children and only knows how to eat and sleep.”
“Ben still protects Clo-clo regardless. He said that he finally has a daughter and would pay extra
attention to her. If anyone’s son is suspected of showing interest in his daughter, he’ll nip those feelings
in the bud. He won’t let them have those thoughts.”
Ben was most wary of their adopted son, Laurence.
Laurence was very clever. Even the legendary doctor said he had great potential. However, he was on
a revenge mission, and his real home was far from Annenburg. Ben would lose his appetite and sleep
whenever he thought of Laurence taking his daughter away.
Ben would have severe insomnia, which made Jane speechless. She said he was overthinking.

“It’s completely understandable.”
Serenity said with a smile, “If it were Zachary, he’d only be worse than your husband. It won’t just be
Zachary as well. The entire York family will be keeping an eye on our daughter.”
The York family had not had a daughter for several generations.
If Serenity gave birth to a daughter, the Yorks would treat her daughter like a gem.
If one dared to take an interest in the York family’s young lady, they were probably asking for torture.
“Our in-laws are similar.”
Although the Johnsons were not as lacking in daughters as the Yorks, there were no daughters in
Ben’s generation. Chloe was also the only female in her generation. The situation would stay the same
unless Jane or her sisters-in-law gave birth to a few more daughters.

law are around. I’ll introduce them to you later.”

his wife traveling around the world.
