Chapter 2027

When Liberty walked out of the inpatient department, she saw Duncan.

She stopped and locked eyes with him.

Soon, she walked over.

“Mr. Lewis, what brings you here?”

“I just finished my rehab and came out for a break. I wanted to go to your new store to look for you but

happened to see you driving away, so I followed you here.”

Duncan answered honestly.

He saw Liberty heading to the hospital and guessed that she was visiting her ex-husband, so he

followed her over to take a look.

Duncan knew Liberty would not get back together with Hank, but he was still scared and on guard.

As long as Liberty came to the hospital, he would either follow her here, sulked at home, or lose his

temper.

The good-tempered Duncan in the past was gone after his car accident, and his temper became

unstable.

Everyone else from the Lewises was careful toward him and even pampered him. As long as he was

happy, he could do whatever he wanted.

“Did you go to see Sonny’s dad?” Duncan asked.

Liberty nodded and said, “Mrs. Brown called and told me that Hank woke up and was transferred fromnovelbin

the ICU to the general ward, so I came to see him with some fruits and supplements.”

Duncan said after a moment of silence, “You ought to do that. Are you going to bring Sonny to visit his

dad after school?”

“I’ll bring him during the weekend. His dad is mostly sleeping now.”

Liberty walked behind Duncan. His bodyguard silently gave way and let her push Duncan along.

“As long as he’s awake.”

Duncan said in a warm and deep voice, “He’s Sonny’s dad, after all.”

Liberty hummed. “Mr. Lewis, you haven’t eaten yet, right? I’ll treat you to a meal.”

“Okay. I didn’t eat because I was waiting for you to invite me to a meal.”

Liberty responded, “You can’t be like that. You have to eat if you’re hungry so that you won’t get gastric.

You have to eat your meals on time.”

“Got it.”

“How was your rehab today?”

Duncan did not answer her right away.

Liberty comforted him, “Don’t rush it, and take your time. I believe you can stand up.”

“With crutches, I can walk two steps.”

“That’s progress, Mr. Lewis. You’re doing great!”

Duncan smiled and said, “Liberty, I can now face the fact that I’m disabled, and I won’t be as

unreasonable as before. You don’t have to praise me as if I’m a kid.

“How’s Sonny doing in preschool? Does he cry about wanting to go home?”

“No, he’s having a great time. He’s usually alone, but there are so many friends to play with over there.

I’m afraid he’ll have so much fun that he won’t want to come home.”

Duncan smiled. “Being an only child can be quite lonely.

“What time does he finish this afternoon? Can I go with you to pick him up? I could usually see him, so

now that I don’t, I rather miss him.”

Liberty replied to him with a smile, “Everyone told me the same thing. Seren and Zachary said they

would pick up Sonny in the afternoon and asked me to do my thing. Elisa also said she was going to

pick him up. The little one is lucky to have so many people who love him.”
