Chapter 1963

Celine wanted to argue for herself, but she just lowered her head and apologized to her mom when she

saw her serious face.

“Mom, I’m sorry. It was my fault this time.”

She took two steps forward and affectionately took Madam Fisher’s arm as she said coquettishly,

“Mom, I know I was wrong, so don’t be mad. I just really adore Mr. Hayden. It was competitive, to begin

with, and Mr. Kevin is in the picture now. We can’t get close to Mr. Hayden because we’re women.

“On the other hand, Mr. Kevin can get close to Mr. Hayden such that Mr. Hayden’s bodyguards can’t do

anything to him. He’s even openly pursuing Mr. Hayden and arranged a sea of flowers in front of

Queen Enterprise.

“I was jealous of Mr. Kevin, so I couldn’t help but do that at that moment. I didn’t expect him to react so

quickly. Instead of tripping him, I tripped over him. The fall was so painful, and I also embarrassed

myself.”

Celine gritted her teeth again at the thought of her fall earlier.

She had never been so humiliated before.

“Mom, don’t be angry, okay? I promise I won’t make such lowly mistakes in the future. Also, how could

Caroline not come to help me first thing when she saw me fall? Emma was right—she was happy to

see me make a fool of myself.”

Right after she finished, Madam Fisher poked her forehead and said, “Carol was eating, and Mr.

Hayden suddenly looked for her. She didn’t even react when you fell and said she was baffled at thatnovelbin

time, so how could she go to help you?

“Carol was raised in the countryside and didn’t undergo self-defense training, so her reaction is slow.

You’ve learned a bit of that but were still beaten by Mr. Kevin. Why did you offend someone you

shouldn’t?

“This is your problem and your mistake, so don’t always blame it on Carol. At the end of the day, she’s

still my daughter. Remember—she wouldn’t have suffered so much grievance if not for your dad.

“You owe her, so don’t always act as if she snatched everything from you.”

Madam Fisher knew it all but just did not point things out.

She was getting older and would no longer have the energy to manage the Fishers’ affairs in a few

years. At that time, she would need to consider retiring and letting the heir take the throne.

Nonetheless, it had only been a year since her biological daughter returned to the family. Although

Caroline pretended to be weak but was capable, she had not gained a foothold due to the short amount

of time since. Madam Fisher seemed to continue to favor her adopted daughter and did not care much

about her biological daughter.

However, Madam Fisher was using her way to sharpen her biological daughter, forcing her to stand

firmly in just a few years so that she could take over the position of the family head.

As for some people in the family who had been secretly asking about Madam Fisher’s two nieces, she

was not concerned at all.

It had been decades. Could they be found?

Madam Fisher’s nieces were only a few years old back then. She might not even remember her older

niece, let alone the younger one.

The next family head would definitely be her daughter!

“Mom, I’m innocent. He was the one who did that, not me. I was just a newborn baby at that time and

didn’t know anything.

“How can you say that I owe Caroline? Caroline and I don’t owe each other because we couldn’t have

led the incident. How could we know something that even you don’t?”

Madam Fisher was speechless.

It was her negligence that caused such an absurd incident of her daughter being set up.

“That’s enough. Go inside and don’t leave my side again, lest you make another stupid mistake and do

something disgraceful. Remember to stay away from Mr. Kevin in the future. We can’t afford to offend

the Yorks too.”

The Fishers were inferior to the Queens in Jensburg. They only remained on the list of top families in

Jensburg because they had existed for a long time and were different.

Their internal strife was nothing, but once they fought with the big families, their chances of winning

would be very low.

For many years, Madam Fisher had always befriended families that were more powerful than the

Fishers. As for those weaker than their family, she would either bully them or embezzle their companies

to grow her own little by little.

She hoped that the Fishers could one day return to their peak where their family used to reign over

Jensburg.
