Chapter 1954

Kevin took his time in removing his belt as he replied, “You’re not happy to take off your clothes to

prove that you’re a man, but I’m happy to do so.”

With Kevin close to pulling his pants down, Hayden retorted with a grimace, “I apologize. That came

out wrong. You’re a real man.”

Kevin was only trying to spook her.

It was not like he was really going to take off his pants in front of her.

Now that Hayden had apologized, Kevin fastened his belt and said, “I’m more likely to go for it than you

are. You act with integrity and transparency. As a matter of fact, you’re a doer, but you seem to

overthink and dawdle at taking off your clothes like a woman.”

Hayden scowled.

“Don’t tell me you’re a woman, Mr. Hayden.”

“I can say the same about you.”

Kevin chuckled. “I will cling to you more if I’m a woman. I’ll be all over you until you take me as your

wife.”

“I’m not interested in you. Please don’t follow me around. You are a massive distraction to my life and

work.”

Hayden kept a flat tone as she tried to reason with Kevin.

There was no talking sense into Kevin in the matter of getting a wife.

He stared ardently into Hayden’s eyes and answered, “I told everybody that I am trying to win your

heart. It’s only been a day. Who will think I’m part of the rainbow community if I give up now?”

“Are you trying to convince others that you raise your flag high and proud? In that case, you can

choose any man in the world. Why must you get me involved?”

“I like you, Hayden. You’re better looking than all of them. I want my partner to be as dashing as me.”

Hayden responded, “Many more talented and handsome men in Wiltspoon outshine me. Why don’t you

look for them instead?”

“I’ve known them for a while now. It’s hard to go from friends to lovers. Besides, I don’t have those

kinds of feelings for them. You’re a different story. I couldn’t stop thinking of you since the day I met

you. You’re the one for me.”

Hayden glared at him.

As if she would believe him.

It took a while before Hayden curtly replied, “I don’t care either way. I should make this clear—you can

do whatever you want, but I will never accept you.”

“I will end my pursuit if you find a girl you like and intend to take her as your wife. Although I have

feelings for you, I won’t be the other person in someone’s marriage.”

Kevin was sure Hayden would never marry a woman.

Hayden scowled without a word.

She had a fleeting thought of getting a woman to be her fake girlfriend to stop Kevin from hitting on her.

Nevertheless, Hayden was concerned the unknowing woman would take the girlfriend role for real and

insist on marrying her. It spelled trouble.

“Do you want any woman you fancy, Hayden? You have a lot of admirers. I was surrounded by your

admirers as I was getting out of the car to get here. They took turns criticizing me for taking you from

them.

“They talked about the intense competition, and my participation only made things worse for them.

They gave me a hard time for ruining your good name. They said you were a normal man who would

never fall for another man. They told me to go for someone else instead.

“I shut them up with comebacks in the end. Seriously, my parents aren’t bothered about it, so why

should they get up my case about it then? I’m free to pursue anybody I like. Who are they to tell me

otherwise?”

Hayden was speechless.

She walked to the entrance and quietly opened the door before showing Kevin the door.

Hayden asked Kevin to leave because she could not beat his quick retorts.

Despite his seemingly senseless remarks, Kevin always had a point. Hayden was often rendered

speechless.

Kevin sure knew his way around words.

After much silence, Kevin walked to the door.novelbin

While passing Hayden, he said with a smile, “Hayden, I won’t give up on you. The only way I will quit is

when you get married and have kids. Please ask me to be your best man if you do get yourself a wife.”
