Chapter 1949

Caroline quickly said, “Mr. Hayden, your bodyguards didn’t hurt me. I’m fine.”

She stole a glance at Hayden. Then, she swiftly looked down with a shy expression. She said softly,

“Mr. Hayden, I’m really sorry. I was the one walking so carelessly that I hit your bodyguard.”

“I should be the one saying sorry. The party is crowded, and what’s more, I brought along so many

bodyguards. Because of that, you accidentally hit my bodyguard. Luckily, you’re fine.”

Hayden’s treatment of young ladies who admired her was cold and distant. She would not treat anyone

gently.

However, Hayden softened her tone in spite of herself when speaking to Caroline. Hayden’s beautiful

face was less cold as well.

When others saw the scene, they felt that the young lady of the Fishers was using the most old-novelbin

fashioned method in the book, namely hitting Hayden’s people, to attract Hayden’s attention.

“That countrywoman is eyeing Hayden, huh?”

“She’s now the young lady of the Fishers, and she’ll be the head of the family in the future. It’s natural

for her to eye Hayden. Hayden is so excellent that even Mr. Kevin is obsessed with him. It’s not

surprising that Caroline is eyeing him.”

“Exactly. If I had a daughter, I’d hope for Hayden to be my son-in-law too.”

“Madam Fisher brought Celine along.”

Someone spotted Madam Fisher approaching with her adopted child, Celine. She softly reminded

others to stop discussing Caroline in case Madam Fisher overheard it.

Caroline had a great hearing. She heard what people around her had whispered.

Deep down, she complained, ‘So what if I’m eyeing Hayden? What can you do to me?’

Although there were many talented young men in Jensburg, most of them were married. Even those

who were unmarried were taken, and Caroline was not interested in them.

Caroline had gone on numerous blind dates, but she was not interested in any of her dates. She did

not want to make compromises, which explained why she was still single.

Caroline’s adoptive parents had evil intentions. They wanted to marry her off after she turned eighteen.

The dates they had arranged for her were all big spenders who came from rich family backgrounds.

However, those men were incompetent.

Back then, she did not understand why her parents wanted to marry her off and stopped her from

pursuing her studies after she turned eighteen. She only figured it out after her adoptive father’s

scheme was exposed.

Since Caroline was young, her family had disliked her and she always got bullied by her siblings. That

was because she was an adopted child.

After going to school, Caroline scored the best results among her siblings. Her adoptive parents had

always tried to stop her from going to school.

After Caroline was accepted into the best university, her adoptive parents wanted to marry her off and

forbade her from pursuing her studies. If her adoptive parents had not allowed her to continue her

education with her excellent results, it would draw fierce criticism. Therefore, her adoptive parents had

no choice but to let her study. Since then, her parents had never given her any money.

That did not matter. While studying, Caroline was making money at university. She helped her friends

fetch water, collect parcels and takeouts, and run other errands. She made money by being an errand-

runner. Even though she was tired, she could make quite a lot of money. Given that she was

academically talented, making money this way did not affect her results.

During the holidays, Caroline would return to her hometown and harvest homegrown fruits and

vegetables to sell in the city, which enabled her to make money. She would also make a fortune by

being a home tutor for primary and middle school students.

When there was a will, there was a way to overcome difficulties.

When Caroline graduated from university, she had never asked for a single penny from her adoptive

family. Instead, she saved some money and did not let her family know that she used her savings to

invest in other businesses. She was fortunate enough to make a killing every time.

Later on, she even set up a company, which had been running for several years. Now, the company

had two subsidiaries worth tens of millions of dollars.
