Chapter 1849

Duncan questioned, “...is it Grandma May?”

If this were someone else, with Zachary’s possessiveness, to whoever dared abduct his wife, he would

have already wreaked havoc long ago and would not have the mood to see him.

Zachary said with a wry smile, “Who else could it be? Only my nana dares treat me like this.”

Even his parents would not treat him in this way.

Duncan laughed. “You must have stepped on your nana’s toes for her to treat you like this. Grandma

May knows how and where to hit to hurt us the most.”

Like Zachary, his weak spot was the woman they loved, and for him was Liberty.

Grandma May told him that if he really let go of Liberty, she would immediately help Liberty find a good

man and make him regret his decision.

Duncan did not dare to say anything after hearing Grandma May.

It was because he knew it was not that he did not love Liberty anymore, it was just that he was disabled

now. He was worried he could not give Liberty happiness, so he treated her harshly.

In reality, he would blame himself every time he drove Liberty away. He often regretted his actions and

was worried about her. Duncan feared that his cold attitude would hurt her.

Zachary pursed his lips and stopped talking.

Duncan knew his guess was right when he saw him go quiet. Duncan said laughingly, “See if you dare

offend Nana again in the future.”

“I did not offend Nana, it’s just that she pities her daughter-in-law. Her grandson was given away as a

free gift from reloading phone credit, so she doesn’t care.”

“That’s totally natural. If there are too many grandsons, each one of them becomes less valuable. Now

Nana only has one granddaughter-in-law, who else would she care about besides Serenity? You

should thank God that you don’t have a daughter yet. If you and your wife have a daughter in the

future, you wouldn’t even have a say.”

Duncan’s mother gave birth to four sons. When his first niece was born, his mother was filled with joy.

She held the baby every day and called her precious.

She loved her so much.

After that, when he got a couple more nieces, his mother no longer showed the same level of

happiness. Nowadays, as the number of his nephews and nieces were equal, his mother treated her

grandsons and granddaughters equally, no longer showing favoritism.

Scarcity in things increased their value; the same applied to humans.

Having this many grandsons decreased their values. However, if she had too many granddaughters, a

grandson would be like a treasure.

“It’s hot outside, let me wheel you back into the house.”

Zachary pushed Duncan along.

“I don’t want to go back inside. Just take me strolling around the backyard. I’ll have to face my parents’

gaze of pity if you push me back into the house. It’ll definitely spoil my mood no matter how happy I

am.”

The person that Duncan was most afraid to face was his mother.

Duncan’s mother always blamed herself for his misfortune.

Zachary said with understanding and sympathy, “Alright, I’ll take you for a stroll.”

“Now that your nana has taken your wife away, you sure have time to spend with your bros. Y’know, go

out for a drink and whatnot.”

Ever since he had Serenity, Zachary seldom spent time with his friends by himself. Even if they had

gatherings, he would usually bring Serenity along with him.

“You and Josh are my only best friends. Josh is busy spending time with his precious, so let’s exclude

him. I can only come to you, Duncan. Let’s go hoop after you get better.”

Duncan laughed, then said, “You might have to wait for a few years to be able to play basketball with

me. Even I am uncertain about when I can get back on my feet and recover completely. I’ll be very

lucky to be able to just walk normally. I dare not think beyond that, let alone playing basketball.”

“You will get better. Just hang in there with your rehabilitation. I believe you will recover completely after

a year and a half if you do your rehab as you should.”

Duncan said after a brief silence, “I hope so.”novelbin

“How is Liberty’s new restaurant doing?”

“It’s currently under some light renovation. It will be open for business very soon.”
