Chapter 1781

Chapter 1781

Zachary looked at Liberty and only started congratulating Duncan after seeing Liberty nodding her

head in approval.

“Congratulations on your recovery and discharge from the hospital, Duncan. I came just at the right

time to give you a ride home.”

Duncan replied, “Now that I don’t need to be on an IV anymore, it doesn’t really matter where I lie

down. Besides, I think my mood will improve if I get to rest at home instead of this rotten place.”

He would never ever want to be hospitalized again if possible.

“Feeling better now, Dunc?”

Concerned, Sonny asked while walking over to Duncan.

“I can finally be discharged from the hospital today.”

Duncan pulled Sonny closer and picked him up. He wanted to sit Sonny down on his lap, but Sonny

struggled to get down. The little guy said sensibly, “Your leg could hurt, Dunc. I can’t sit on your lap.”

Liberty once mentioned that Duncan injured his legs and needed time to heal, so it would be best not to

sit on his lap.

Sonny remembered it well.

Duncan smiled and said, “If you sit still, I'l] still be able to handle it.”

It might hurt, but it would be much milder compared to the intense pain he felt right after the accident.

Duncan lifted Sonny up again and let him sit on his lap. Sonny did not dare to move around and would

occasionally ask, “Do your legs hurt, Dunc? If they hurt, I’ll get down.”

“Okay.”

Looking at the sensible Sonny, Duncan was in a jolly good mood. His face looked radiant as he smiled

more.

As they were chatting, Zachary sat on the side and watched.

Liberty helped Duncan pack up his belongings. Occasionally,

Duncan looked at Liberty with longing eyes, but he would avert his gaze right after.

“How’s my company doing now, Zachary?”

Lewis & Co. was currently being managed by Duncan’s brother, Kyle. Duncan would sometimes ask

Kyle about the state of the company. Perhaps he was still unfamiliar with the operations of the

company, or perhaps he was too busy, but his brother would always give Duncan answers that left him

speechless. Even asking Zachary would be better.

After all, the two companies had a cooperative relationship.

“Business is going smoothly as usual. Kyle has gotten more familiar with his job, and he’s getting more

capable in handling company matters.”

Although everyone in the Lewis family was capable in their own right, Lewis & Co. was Duncan’s

personal business venture. The company had always been managed by Duncan alone, all decisions in

the company were also his alone to make. His brothers only knew that the company had already made

it as one of the top multi-million dollar companies. However, they were none the wiser about the

company's internal affairs.

As someone who did not understand the ins and outs of the company, Kyle was flustered for a while

when he was first tasked with managing the company. Gradually, he had gotten the hang of things and

was already accustomed to his daily tasks.

“Duncan, you should take your time recovering. You don’t have to worry about your company. Besides

your brother, you have Josh and me looking out for your business too.”

Duncan nodded in agreement but then sighed dejectedly, “I don’t even know if I can ever return to work

again.”

“Don’t say that, Duncan! You will get better, I’m sure of that. Once you have recovered, make it through

rehabilitation and you'll be back on your feet in no time. Josh and I are waiting for you to get better so

that we can play sports, go horse riding and sail together.”

Duncan did not say a word.novelbin

Rehabilitation was the longest part of the journey of Duncan’s recovery.

After a while, he said, “If I’m wheelchair-bound for the rest of my life, I'll go to work in a wheelchair. I’

just let my bodyguards follow me wherever I go, it's not a big deal.”
