Chapter 1707

Chapter 1707

“Don’t yell at Duncan, Charmaine.

He doesn’t mean it.” Mrs. Lewis pulled Charmine outside the room.

“Don’t criticize him.

Duncan has it hard enough.” Charmaine answered, “I know Duncan is in low spirits, but so are we.

We are concerned about him and his health.novelbin

He gave up on himself before the doctor did.

“You can’t continue to enable him, Corey.

We must get him back on his feet.” Corey had been beating herself up and stayed by Duncan’s side to

nurse him since his accident.

Charmaine could understand where Corey was coming from.

All they could do was visit and deliver food to the hospital every day.

Sometimes, Duncan would refuse to see them when they came around.

Since Charmaine’s husband assumed the leadership role of the Lewises family business, he was

swamped with work every day while fretting over Duncan’s injury.

However, Duncan was too caught up in his sorrow to care about his family’s feelings.

Mrs. Lewis’s eyes welled up.

She choked with sobs.

“I want him to get back on his feet too, but he won’t listen to us.

He lies in bed all day, and any slight movement kicks the pain in his legs to overdrive.

It’s normal that he’s agitated.

It’s not his fault.

It’s not his fault...” “Corey.” Charmaine handed her mother-in-law a tissue and sighed.

“TI don’t blame him.

I’m just getting to get some sense into him.” Mrs. Lewis wiped her tears away and said, “I spoke with

Liberty, asking her to come and take care of Duncan so he could snap out of it.

Duncan likes her so much.

I think Duncan will pull himself together for her.” “1 thought Duncan didn't want to see her.” Liberty had

dropped by the hospital every day since Duncan’s accident.

Nevertheless, she was turned away every time.

Duncan went so far as to deploy his rarely used bodyguards to keep watch at his door 24/7 in the

hospital to keep Liberty out.

The others, who turned up around the same time, were shut out too.

“We just have to keep trying.” Mrs. Lewis dried her tears once more.

“I’m putting all hope on Liberty now.” “Corey, Duncan doesn’t want to meet with Liberty because he

doesn’t want to be a deadweight to her.

His feelings for Liberty will only grow if she comes and nurses him to health.

Marriage is not an option for Liberty either...

He won’t be able to cut her out of his life.” Mrs. Lewis sobbed.

“Whatever it is, all I want is for Duncan to get better.

He had helped Liberty a lot in the past.

She will say yes if I ask.

I know she’s a nice person.

She gave mea call earlier and told me that she was on her way over right now.

“Do you think Duncan can move on from Liberty even if she doesn’t come? He can’t.

We should at least give him a helping hand since he can’t let go of his feelings.” Mrs. Lewis kept her

voice down in case her son could hear her.

“Liberty might fall in love with Duncan if they spend time together.

We could be expecting wedding bells by the time Duncan gets better.

I don’t want to come in his way anymore.

He is free to live his life, so he can choose who he wants to spend the rest of his life with.” Although

Liberty was a divorcee, she was five years younger than Duncan.

Duncan was fond of Sonny too.

Mrs. Lewis believed the trio would make one happy family.

of course, Mrs. Lewis hoped Liberty could give Duncan children if they did end up together.

Mrs. Lewis was already thinking about kids even though nothing was set in stone.

Charmaine had no words.

Corey knew Liberty would not say no to her since Liberty was greatly indebted to Duncan.

Duncan even kept by Liberty’s side the whole night when Liberty met with a mishap.

Charmaine was on Corey’s side in hoping Duncan could buck up and bounce back even if it meant

dragging Liberty into this.

Liberty would not be losing out if Duncan married her once he pulled around.

While the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were having a conversation, Derek quietly cleaned up the

mess.

Duncan, who knocked over the food, indifferently lay in bed and stared at the ceiling without a word.

Seeing that his son showed no remorse or emotions, Derek was tempted to give his son a piece of his

mind but fought back the words in the end.

Thump, thump.

There was a knock on the door.
