Chapter 1574

Soon, Colin returned.

He lowered his voice and informed, “General, I know why the others failed to show up at Mrs. Cross'party.”

“Why?” Nathan urged.

Colin grimaced. “It's Phoebe's doing. She's holding a grand party at Excellent Hotel, which isnearby. The rich kids from Brimmopolis invited all the rich and powerful in Channing.”

He added, “Those invited had to come, or risk offending Phoebe and her entourage. Hence, everyone from Channing chose to attend her party instead of Mrs. Cross'.”

A dark cloud rolled over Nathan's formerly unthreatening expression.

To the upper-class society, Nathan was a capable man, but he was in the military. They rarely hadany interactions with him.

However, Phoebe and her company came from families of bureaucrats. It made sense for the elitesin Channing to want to establish connections with them.

Hence, they attended Phoebe's party instead of Nathan's.

Snorting coldly, Nathan whipped his phone and called someone.

Meanwhile, at Excellent Hotel.

Phoebe had dressed up for the occasion. She was flanked by Donnie, Marshall, and the other richbrats as they greeted the guests.

With a glass of champagne in her hand, she asked, “Our party is packed. What about Nathan'swife's birthday party?”

Donnie smirked. “Everyone is here. I believe no one is at their party.”

Marshall chuckled out loud. “I sent someone to spy on them Only a few people are there at PennySmith's party. None of the upper class are there. Imagine how mad Penny and Nathan are now.Ha!”

“Ha!” Phoebe sneered smugly. “Nathan, you're just a military general. Do you think you're capableenough of defying us aristocrats? What a joke.”

“We'll humiliate him tonight. Next time, he'll know the consequence for crossing us.”

When Phoebe and her gang were basking in their success, suddenly, the guests started

murmuring among themselves.

They were whispering to each other. “What?

Seriously? Hurry. We should head to Ms. Smith's party now!”

“Yes, yes. Let's go.”

“Hurry! Let's go now!”

Soon, the guests filed toward the exit and left.novelbin

The rich kids stopped in their tracks, stunned by the turn of events.

What are they doing?Did they leave to attend Nathan's wife's birthday banquet? Aren't they afraid ofour threat? Do they have a death wish?

Phoebe roared in astonishment and fury. “What are they doing? How could they ignore our threatand leave to attend Penny's party?”

She was utterly baffled.

Right then, Donnie, Marshall, and their friends received a call from their respective families.

They seemed spooked after cutting the line.

Marshall had an odd expression on his face as told Phoebe honestly, “Ms. Davies, we have toattend Ms. Smith's birthday banquet to wish her a happy birthday.”

Phoebe's eyes widened in incredulity. “Have you

Marshall let out a bitter chuckle. “No, we're not crazy. Nathan called and invited Donnie's father, myfather, and other government officials to celebrate his wife's birthday.”

What?

Phoebe couldn't believe that Nathan had invited their fathers to his party.

No wonder the guests left my party and went to his party instead. No wonder Donnie, Marshall, andthe other young men seem reluctant to leave as they are being forced to wish Penny a happybirthday. They had no choice because their fathers were there.
