Chapter 1573

Zem, who was in charge of the Cabinet Bodyguards' mission today, came over to Phoebe. “Miss,Mr. Davier just relayed his order. We have to leave immediately.”

With a sour expression, Phoebe replied, “Go!”

“Yes!” said Zem.

Zem and the rest of the Cabinet Bodyguards left quickly in their vehicles.

After their departure, there was no way Phoebe could defeat Nathan with her forces.

She was upset, but there was no other choice except to leave.

Before Phoebe took her leave, she glowered at Nathan. “Mr. Cross, this isn't over. You better

watch your back!” she threatened.

She then turned and left with her entourage.

Chauncey wiped the cold sweat off his forehead and heaved a sigh of relief.

With an apologetic grin, he came to Nathan flanked by his staff. “Thank you for coming in time, Mr.Cross. Otherwise, I would be groveling at their feet.”

“If anything else pops out, give Colin a call,”

Nathan told him.

Chauncey was delighted. “Yes!”novelbin

Nathan proceeded to ask about the preparation for tonight's birthday banquet, so Chauncey andAlma answered his doubts carefully.

He wanted to know every little detail about the

banquet.

After that, Nathan even told Chauncey and the others about Penny's favorite dessert and drinks. Healso described the type of cake that she preferred.

Chauncey nodded vehemently as he ordered Alma to write everything down so they wouldn't missanything out.

Alma was in a turmoil of emotions.

After all, Nathan wasn't poor as she had expected. He was an influential and wealthy General.

The ladies were envious because Nathan clearly adored his wife. He even knew what snacks andcake she preferred.

Those were details that only an adoring husband

would know.

Jealousy arose in Alma's heart as she gazed at the perfect man, who was now married to anotherwoman.

Nathan headed home after he made the necessary arrangements.

Night fell and the city lights blinked to life.

Nathan, Penny, and the family arrived at Crescent Moon Hotel.

At first, Penny thought Nathan brought her here for a casual stroll along the beach. She wassurprised to find that Nathan had held a birthday banquet for her here.

“Oh, dear. Hubby, did you organize a birthday banquet for me? Why didn't you tell me about it?"

Penny grabbed Nathan's hand excitedly.

“It was meant to be a surprise. I invited your friends, classmates, the company executives, businessmen, and politicians. It will be a lively event. Let's go in.”

Penny was beaming with joy. “Okay!”

They held hands and walked into the hotel.

Chauncey, Alma, and over one hundred hotel staff were lined up by the entrance to greet them.“Welcome. Happy birthday, Mrs. Cross!”

Penny blushed prettily. “Thank you, everyone.”

Led by Chauncey and his staff, Nathan and his family reached the party venue.

It was an extravagant reception. There was an exquisite champagne tower and a live band playingsome soothing music. A delicious spread was served to the guests.

It was an incredible sight.

The only glaring problem was that there were around two hundred guests milling around the venue, who could host up to two thousand guests. Hence, it seemed slightly spacious.

Furrowing his brows, Nathan asked, “Are we too early? Are the guests still on their way?”

Colin replied honestly. “I don't know. I've sent out the invitations as ordered. The guests should allbe here for the event. I'm just as curious as you.”

Penny laughed. “It's still early, so they are still on their way. I see some of my friends. Nathan, let'sgo talk to them.”

Nathan gave her a warm smile. ’’Honey, I'll join

you later.”

Penny nodded before going toward the guests with her family and her daughter.

Pulling Colin aside, Nathan instructed, “Why is Penny's birthday banquet this empty? Find out whatis going on.”

“Understood.”
