Chapter 1475 Hayden Howard

Nathan had just given Colin instructions when he received a phone call from his daughter, Queenie.

He heard his daughter asking anticipatingly through the phone, "Papa, it's my birthday tomorrow. Can you make it back in time to celebrate it with me?”

Her words reminded him that tomorrow was his daughter's seventh birthday.

He curled his lips into an indulgent smile as he made a promise, "Alright, papa will come back tocelebrate your birthday with you."

Queenie jumped and cheered excitedly, "Hooray! Papa, you're the best!"

After chatting with her a short while longer, Nathan ended the call.

Subsequently, he made a phone call to Wendy, telling her that tomorrow was his daughter's birthdayand that he would be going back to Channing for two days.

Without any hesitation, Wendy told him

she was coming along to Channing; she was eager to meet Penny and little Queenie.

Nathan and Wendy boarded the plane to Channing the next day. Colin and the Elite Eight, however, stayed in Mayberry to continue with the investigation.novelbin

Queenie, Penny, her family, and her bodyguard were already waiting for Nathan and Wendy at theexit when they walked out of the airport.

"Papa!" Queenie brightened up the moment she saw Nathan.

She raced toward him, and the latter picked her up in his arms.

Penny and the others followed suit, with Penny looking at Nathan lovingly.

"You're back!” Penny muttered. It had been a while since she and Nathan had spent time together;their eyes were full of incandescent love for each other.

Nathan smiled and introduced Wendy to all of them, "Let me introduce you guys. This is my mom'sbiological sister, my aunt, Wendy."

Penny and the others were slightly surprised because Wendy looked young and beautiful, even asan aunt. It was as if she was only in her thirties. They couldn't help raising their eyebrows at thelarge age gap between Nathan's mom and her sister.

After greeting each other, Wendy handed a jade pendant and a jade bracelet to Queenie and Pennyrespectively as gifts for it was their first meeting.

Penny was pleasantly surprised. "Wendy, is this for me?"

Wendy explained smilingly, "Nathan's mom is no longer around, but I have always treated him likemy son. I'm giving this bracelet to you as the daughter-in-law of the Cross family on behalf ofNathan's mom."

Penny's cheeks flushed red at her words.

Since Queenie was the birthday girl, she could be the one to call the shots to order her favoritedishes.

Queenie gave it some thought before enumerating them while counting on her fingers. "I like to eatbuffalo wings, meatballs, casserole..."

Nathan and the others were slightly bewildered upon hearing her choice of dishes when theyrealized that those were all common dishes at a banquet.

Penny let out a sigh. "My salary was previously just enough to keep the wolf from the door, so wecan't afford to spend a lot on our daily meals. Queenie could only feast when we attended otherpeople's banquets."

She patted Queenie's hair affectionately as she continued, "That's why she doesn't favor a lavishspread of delicacies but is rather fond of these common banquet dishes. To her, these are some ofthe most delicious foods from her memory."

Both Benson and Leah sighed when they recalled the rough time they had gone

through.

They were grateful to have Nathan as their son-in-law. Without Nathan, they wouldn't be able to getthrough the rough patch and live a happy life now!

With a smile on his face, Nathan granted his daughter her wish. "Since Queenie likes to eat thesebanquet dishes, we'll find an authentic farm-to-table restaurant."

Soon, they arrived at a small-scaled farmhouse restaurant and ordered quite a lot of dishes; all ofthem were common, homely foods.

Just as they were about to dig in, a convoy of jeeps with Mayberry military districts' number platesscreeched to a halt in front of the restaurant.

A tall man in his lieutenant colonel military outfit got out of the first jeep.

He was none other than Hayden Howard.

Standing next to him was the first lieutenant, Jasper Quenton.

About a dozen of soldiers got out of the jeeps behind them.
