Chapter 940

James had heard about these events from Blake.

He also knew that the Gu Sect had been exterminated by the King of Sol at that time with the aid of

some martial artists.

This was, however, quite typical. Since ancient times, the people who had made significant

contributions to the country would be killed when a new dynasty and king rose to power.

James was fairly certain after hearing Thea speak that his grandfather was not a vile and unforgivable

devil. He was simply labeled as evil because the martial arts he was learning were unconventional. He

was also ambushed, which caused his Energy to deviate, and that was when mistakes were made.

The two continued to talk about a lot of things.

Maxine soon made her way back. She returned carrying a few red fruits, which were not particularly

large. They were about the size of a fist, red, and resembled a ball of raging flames.novelbin

“James, this is the Sacred Fire Fig. There were only four on the tree, and I brought them all back. Four

of these would be sufficient to transform your True Energy into one of pure and extreme Yang energy.”

Joy was apparent on Maxine’s pretty face when she handed the fruits to James.

James took them and examined them in his hands.

Apart from being warm to the touch, there was nothing peculiar about them.

Instead of studying them, he opened his backpack and placed them inside. Then, he looked at the

entrance of the cavern and said, “The Gu Devil hasn't appeared in a while. Perhaps there are other

exits to the cavern and he's already fled?”

“There are indeed a lot of exits. The cavern's interior stretches in all directions, and there are also exits

behind the mountain. He might have already fled,” Thea said while nodding her head.

“I’m going down to take a look.”

James left earlier because he was worried that the Gu Devil would return. However, a long time had

passed and the Gu Devil had yet to appear. That meant they had already fled.

His grandpa had fallen into the bottomless pit, so he could not possibly feel at ease if he did not

investigate it.

Even if his grandfather was dead, he would still need to find him and bring his body back to Cansington

so that he could be laid to rest.

“James, not even Grandpa managed to go down into the pit. How would you do that?” Maxine asked,

her brows furrowed.

“Regardless of how difficult it is, I must go take a look.”

James took out his phone after saying that.

He wanted to call for assistance and have some equipment brought over, but his phone could not get a

good signal there. He held up his phone and waved it around.

There was still no reception.

“Let's return to Harvin City first, and then I'll come back with some equipment. I need to go down and

take a look at it in person,” said James.

Maxine did not say anything else because James was adamant.

On the other hand, Thea nodded her head. “Your grandfather already endured a difficult decade before

ending up in this situation. We should bring back his body so that he can be laid to rest.”

James turned around and walked away without saying anything.

The three of them quickly made their way down the mountain and returned the way they came.
