Chapter 2046

James nodded gently.

They continued advancing for another five minutes until they saw a spectral doorway before them.

The portal was more than five meters in height and was composed of black energy. There was aconstant flow of black energy inside the doorway.

“Let’s go.”

The custodian casually waved her hand, and powerful energy flowed from her hand, envelopingJames.

Then, she took James’ hand and led him to the writhing portal.

James felt an immense pressure crushing his body as he passed through the portal. Despite beingprotected by the custodian’s True Energy, he felt like his bones were about to shatter, and the sheeroverwhelming pressure made it hard to breathe.

Fortunately, the feeling only lasted a short moment.

After they passed through the portal, they arrived in an unfamiliar place, and the discomfort hepreviously felt had vanished.

The sky was gray, and the surroundings were dead silent. The ground was studded with craters, and black energy continuously seeped out of these openings.

In the distance, there were many collapsed mountains. The area was full of crumbling ruins, withboulders scattered randomly and bones of unknown creatures strewn about. The whole area reekedof blood and iron, the hallmarks of a bloody clash. Even though tens of millions of years hadpassed, the scars of the fierce battle that took place were still as fresh as ever.novelbin

“We’re here.”

The custodian stood on a pile of ruins, and sorrow tainted her beautiful face as she scanned thesurroundings. She seemed to reminisce for a while and heaved a sigh.

“In the battle back then, the earth was torn apart, and countless strong people met their unfortunateend.”

James could not help asking, “Why did a battle break out in ancient times? Recently, I’ve learned alittle about the events that happened back then. I heard the earth’s ancestors defected to theDemon Race and were called traitors. What exactly happened?”

The custodian returned to her senses and turned to face James, saying calmly, “You’re not qualifiedto know these things yet with your current strength and rank. You should train with peace of mind. When your strength improves, you’ll naturally learn of these matters. All you need to know for nowis that the events of ancient times are far more complicated than you’ve ever imagined.”

“Alright.” James sensibly stopped inquiring any further.

The custodian also said nothing more about the topic.

She looked at James and said, “According to what you told me, the Celestial Abode’s ninth barrier’sdefender must’ve been trained by a powerful person. Thus, she’s also relatively powerful and canadjust her strength to a certain rank. She’s right. If you want to defeat her, you’re far from enough. What you need to do now is train religiously.”

James immediately replied, “I humbly ask for your guidance, Ms. Custodian.”

“Your current physical strength is equivalent to a Supernatural that’s broken through the EighthInner Gate. The defender there restricts their own power to match that, right? If that’s the case, you

should stay here and strengthen your rank until you reach the Eighth Inner Gate in the shortestpossible time.”

“You can practice here at ease. This is an ancient battlefield with concentrated energy. YourDemonic Lotus can absorb any energy and convert it into your own True Energy. If you practicehere, reaching the Supernatural’s Eighth Inner Gate won't take long. I’ll take my leave first. Whenyou reach that rank, I’ll come back to give you some pointers.”

After the custodian finished speaking, her body flickered, and she disappeared from James’ sight.

James swept his gaze over his surroundings.

Everything was gray and silent.

He already knew from previous battles that his Demonic Lotus could absorb any form of energy, convert it into his own and temper his body.

“Haah.”

James took a deep breath.

He advanced into the barren place and soon reached a decimated mountain range.

Although the mountain range was heavily damaged, it still towered over its surroundings at aboutfive kilometers high. James reached the mountaintop and sat in a lotus position on a giant boulder.

He took out his two silver fruits and looked at them while murmuring, “These two fruits are the rarestdivine object, only inferior to the Celestial Abode. If I consume them, my talents should improverapidly. With my body’s strength, it shouldn’t be hard for me to reach the Eighth Inner Gate.”
