Chapter 1800

In the courtyard, Thea looked at James.

James said in frustration, “I really don’t know what happened.”

Thea asked, “What does Floret Palace have to do with anything?”

James narrated the events that unfolded in the ancient martial world to her.

Upon hearing this, Thea furrowed her eyebrows.

“What is Maxine up to? Why did she harm an innocent man for no reason and direct him to you?”

James gestured and said, “How would I know? In any case, we shouldn’t pay any heed to her.Come, let me carry you in for now. I’ll see to the injured man later.”

“No, you promised me that you’d never intervene in the affairs of the ancient martial world.” Wearinga surly expression, Thea said, “Besides, Callan possesses great medical skills too. Savingsomeone’s life should be a piece of cake for him.”novelbin

“I’m just going to have a look. I won’t do anything.”

“No means no.”

“Alright, then.”

James shrugged.

Outside the courtyard…

Upon learning of the events that unfolded, Callan furrowed his eyebrows and murmured, “What isMaxine up to?” Then, he said, “Carry him to the room next door. I’ll do my best to save him.” Having

said that, he pointed at a wooden house not too far away.

At the same time, on a tree at the peak of a mountain behind the village…

A glamorous-looking woman wearing an elegant dress gazed upon the village below. Though shewas a distance away, she could clearly see the events that were unfolding. Upon seeing Callansaving the injured man’s life, a faint smile crept up on her face. Then, in the blink of an eye, shedisappeared without a trace.

The night passed silently.

The next day…

James woke up before daybreak.

He sat in a lotus position on the ground in the courtyard and used the Lunar and Terra Art’sbreathing method to absorb the slight trace of Empyrean Spiritual Energy in the air. At that moment,he noticed his True Energy boosting slightly as the Empyrean Spiritual Energy entered his body.

“What?”

He was dumbfounded.

Over the past three years, his True Energy remained the same even though he absorbed EmpyreanSpiritual Energy every morning. Only his body structure, specifically his bones, had undergonedrastic changes. His physical capabilities had increased by leaps and bounds compared to threeyears ago.

Yesterday, after absorbing the herb’s Empyrean Spiritual Energy, his True Energy increased for thefirst time in three years. Now, his True Energy was boosted once more.

As he sat in a lotus position on the ground, his body radiated a faint halo. The halo was bizarre; halfof the halo was white, while the other half was black. The two colors were intermingling with oneanother.

At that moment, Thea walked over to him. Upon seeing him cultivating, she decided not to botherhim. So, she sat by the side and observed him in silence. As she watched him, a smile crept up onher face.

Time passed.

Soon, the sun rose.

As the sun rose above the horizon, the Empyrean Spiritual Energy in the air grew increasingly thin. Then, it completely dispersed.

James stopped.

Looking at Thea who was sitting not too far away, he said with a bright smile, “Thea, my TrueEnergy has increased again. Based on my current speed, I should be able to break through to theninth rank in no time!”

“Mhm.”

Thea nodded and smiled.

James walked over to her and took a seat beside her.

Thea said, “I’ve contemplated for the whole night. However, I still can’t figure out what Maxine is upto. Why did she injure a man and direct him to you? Is she trying to force you to show yourself?

“This makes no sense at all. What would she gain out of this?”

“There’s no need to overthink things,” James said. “Just ignore her.”

Thea looked at James and said tartly, “Could it be that she’s still hung up on you? Maybe she’sdispleased that you’ve retreated into the mountains with me. That’s why she’s creating disturbancesto force you to show yourself.”
