Chapter 1040

Was his grandfather someone behind Mr. Gabriel, or was he merely collaborating with Mr. Gabriel?

James was slightly confused.

“James, I think you can make your move now,” the King said while looking at James.

After regaining his composure, James said while nodding, “I intend to do so. What rank is Mr. Gabriel's

strength at?”

“I’m not sure. Mr. Gabriel has always been shrouded in mystery. He rarely shows his face and has

never fought an outsider before. According to our intel, his strength is at least at the sixth rank, but it’s

unclear what kind of martial arts he’s learned.”

The King said while shaking his head.

“Your intelligence network spans the entire globe. Did you find any information regarding my

grandfather’s whereabouts over the years?” inquired James.

His grandfather was still alive. He was certain of it. He was also certain that the incident at Mount

Arclens was entirely orchestrated by his grandfather. The goal was to confuse Tobias or to confuse

outsiders.

Still, why did his grandfather do that? Why was he hiding in the dark? Was he afraid of someone? He

could not be sure about any of that yet.

The King gave James a glance.

Then, he shook his head slightly. “I’ve never found anything. However, there's been a lot of action at

the God-King Palace recently. Thea has become a martial artist and the God-King token is in her

possession. It can be determined that the owner of the God-King Palace is Thomas. And the incident at

Mount Arclens…”

After a brief moment of silence, the King continued, “...Was probably planned by your grandfather,

Thomas. He might still be alive right now.”

James was not at all surprised that the King had this information. This was the King of Sol, after all. He

was, without a doubt, the person with the most power and wealth in Sol.

His bodyguard beside him was already so powerful. One could imagine what kind of power he would

have behind him.

“James, I have to say something unpleasant. Your grandfather is not a good man. He devises complex

schemes. You must be cautious and don’t let him take advantage of you,” reminded the King of Sol.

James looked determined as he shook his head. “No. If my grandfather is really still alive, I believe he

won’t take advantage of me. I also believe he won’t bring me any harm.”novelbin

"That's not guaranteed,” the King said. “A different point of view, a different goal. Even though I’m not

sure what Thomas’ goal is or what he’s trying to achieve, I can assure you that he definitely got in

touch with Mr. Gabriel. He was even in contact with the organization behind Mr. Gabriel and worked

with them.”

James had already surmised these. However, he did not have any proof.

He said firmly, “If my grandfather really is a devil who destroys the nation and its people, I’ll definitely

punish him if justice so requires. I won’t assist him.”

James knew what the King was worried about. He was simply worried that James would support

Thomas and be against Sol.

As the Commander of the Black Dragon Army, he would never do anything that would harm the people.

He sincerely hoped his grandfather was not that type of person and that he would not have to do that at

any point in the future.

James’ words put the King at ease.

“You want to kill Mr. Gabriel, but I can’t assist you. Furthermore, it’s uncertain what will happen after Mr.

Gabriel is killed. Still, someone needs to do this. Your current position as General of the Southern

Plains and Dragon King of the Southern Plains makes it inappropriate for you to interfere in the affairs

of the Capital. I’ll say it again, the position of Commander of the Red Flame Army is reserved for you.

By taking over the Red Flame Army, you'll gain the authority to enforce the law. As a result, you'll be

able to deal with the consequences of Mr. Gabriel's death one at a time.”

James nodded. He did not refuse this time.

The King smiled as he noticed James nodding.

“May you succeed, Dragon King. If you can remove the cancerous tumor that is Mr. Gabriel, you’ll truly

be a hero of our nation. Stay in the Capital for a few days first. There still needs to be a vote in

Congress to decide whether or not you’ll assume the role of Commander. It won’t matter even if I said

it.”

“Okay.” James nodded and stood up. “I’ll take my leave now.”
