Chapter 1909

She wasn’t going to interrogate him. Cindy just wanted to know what happened.

Ian’s work dragged on longer that night, and Cindy only heard him coming home around midnight. Afterhe came in, he closed the door and leaned against it to catch a breath.

Cindy got off the couch and went to the foyer to check up on him. Obviously, he was drunk, since hewas looking different than usual. Cindy quickly went to prop him up. “Oh, you got drunk.”

Ian waved his arm, telling her he could walk on his own. “Just a little. I’m tipsy, that’s all. We weretalking about business, so we couldn’t drink much, actually. It’s just someone’s idea at the end.”

Ian sat on the couch, and Cindy came back with a glass of water for him. “Yulia was there too, wasn’tshe?”

Ian looked at her in surprise. “How did you know?”

Cindy handed the glass of water to him. “The media posted some articles. There’s a photo too. Howelse am I supposed to know about it?”

Ian frowned. “They noticed?” But our gathering was at a private restaurant. There shouldn’t have beenany paparazzi there.

Cindy sat beside him. “Yulia knows someone on the production team, right?”

Ian nodded. “Yes. She went over not long after we met. Sounds like she knows one of the investors.”

Cindy chortled. “She’s really a persistent one, huh? She shows up everywhere you are.”

Ian was feeling annoyed as well. He didn’t even talk to Yulia the whole night. She had been showing uptoo much lately, much to his annoyance. However, Yulia was acting normally, and she chatted witheveryone. The producers probably didn’t notice Ian’s displeasure either. Ian downed the whole glass ofwater. “Let me see the article. I want to know what they wrote.”

Cindy took her phone and scrolled through her social media. “It’s nothing though. They just said youguys appeared in the same place.”

It was easy to find the article. Once she found it, she handed her phone to Ian. Ian took it and readthrough the news seriously. novelbin

Cindy continued, “She probably knows about your gathering with the producers. That’s why she went.”

Ian grunted. Yulia had been acting too aggressively lately, and he disliked women like that. However,Yulia had taken that up a notch and just became plain annoying. She has all the traits I dislike. He putthe phone down after he finished reading the news.

There wasn’t any mockery in the article, not even a tiny bit. However, that was why Ian thought it wassuspicious. He thought all media would bring up the past scandal if they found out that Yulia wasmeeting up with him, and that they would write something suggestive to nudge the audience in aspecific direction.

That was their MO, but now, they didn’t do that. They didn’t even bring the past scandal up. They werejust talking about the meetup plainly, and about how it went well. Ian wondered if they were trying to

butter up to him or if they were whitewashing Yulia.

Ian leaned against the couch and heaved a sigh. “I’ll talk to Hannah tomorrow if this goes on.” I can’t letYulia do this anymore. God, she’s annoying.

Cindy had her own concerns. “But Hannah and Yulia seem to be good friends. If you bring this up toher, Hannah might think badly of you.”

Ian didn’t care. “I have to. If I don’t say it now, it’ll be troublesome for us if something bigger pops up. Ifshe thinks badly about me because of this, then it’s her problem. I don’t care. I’m just doing my job.”
