Chapter 1855

Aurora didn't know what was going on, so she had to quickly play along and ask, “What's the matter? What good news? Let me hear it.”

As Ian had already known about it, Cindy couldn't pretend anymore. Hence, she could only honestlyreveal that she had applied for the job at Paramount Group earlier today and was hired on the spot.

At first, he smiled as he listened to her explanation, but when he heard that the hiring employee had achange of attitude toward her instantly, the expression on his face froze.

Aurora didn't think too much about it, but she was definitely surprised. “Her positive attitude toward youwas quite sudden. Was it because she was impressed by your resume and the university yougraduated from?”

She was embarrassed to admit that there was actually nothing good on her resume, and her universitywas not one of the best either. Thus, it was impossible that the hiring staff would be impressed by herresume and her alma mater. Such a big company like Paramount Group contained every single kind oftalent imaginable, and her resume was probably at the bottom of the list.

Cindy shook her head and replied, “I would rather believe that they were convinced by my beauty.”

Aurora laughed beside her. “Alright, it's okay too if you think so.”

They were talking and laughing while Ian’s expression was stiff, but neither Cindy nor Aurora looked athim. After laughing, everyone sat down to eat. Cindy had cooked several dishes today that contained

meat and vegetarian dishes, full of colors and flavors. The driver helped to bring the dishes to the table, and commented while busying himself, “The dishes are making me drool.”

She wasn’t sure whether he was saying those words out of politeness, but she was extremely elated. As there was also wine in the refrigerator, she opened two bottles. Considering that the driver neededto drive, only Aurora, Cindy and Ian drank during the meal and talked about the things that the driverexperienced while working in the company during this period.

The driver used to complain about those incidents, but now he completely turned them into jokes. Hesaid that in the beginning, Hannah had him drive a popular female celebrity in the company, but thewoman had rejected him because she said that the driver wasn’t thoughtful or caring enough. Thinkingthat perhaps female celebrities were more sensitive, Hannah assigned the driver to a male celebrityinstead. As a result, the male celebrity was even worse as he made the driver run various errands, notonly treating him as a driver but as his own exclusive servant. The male celebrity also had a personalassistant by his side who was treated even worse than the driver on a daily basis.

Cindy knew the two celebrities that the driver was talking about, but she was a little surprised. She hadnever dealt with them in the company, but only met them when they walked by. It left her thinking thatthese two were lovely people who were friendly and didn’t have any air of pretense. Who knew thatthey were such challenging people to deal with? novelbin

The atmosphere of the meal was excellent in which everyone was laughing and talking. The food waswell cooked too, so it was obvious that everyone was satisfied after the meal. The driver didn't stay fortoo long as he claimed that he was bloated after eating and wanted to head home to sleep. Thus,Cindy and Ian walked him to the elevator, watched him leave, and turned back home.

Aurora had drunk some wine and was leaning on the couch, feeling a little drunk. Actually, Cindy's

cheeks were flushed too, but since she only drank a little, she wasn’t drunk. Then, Cindy went to thekitchen to boil hot water and thereafter poured a cup of it for Aurora before bringing it over. “Do youwant to lie down for a while?”

Aurora waved her hands and stood up from the couch. “I'm going home. I’ll go home and sleep.”

Although Aurora drank a lot, she was not completely drunk yet. She went to the bathroom to wash herface and tidy herself up before saying goodbye to Ian and Cindy. As they lived in the same community,Ian and Cindy didn't send her off. Waiting for Aurora to leave, Ian hugged Cindy from behind andleaned toward her neck with the smell of alcohol in his breath. His intention to kiss her was plainobvious.
