Chapter 1776

Ian spoke up after they all sat down. “I’ll give a call to Sean in a while. If everything’s fine at thehospital, then we’ll leave the day after tomorrow. You guys will have to start packing.”

Aurora and Cindy didn’t bring much with them—they had packed light since they both knew that theywouldn’t be staying for too long. Aurora nodded. “I bet the Morgan Family will have a lot to deal withafter this situation, so it’s best that we leave soon in order not to get involved.” Just the fact that Brycehad locked Leah in the basement would definitely create a huge commotion once the public found outabout it. Once that happened, Ian would definitely get involved if he stayed around, so it was the rightchoice to leave as soon as they could.

The Morgan Family’s bad deeds had been dragging Ian down from the start, and it seemed like theyhad no intention of setting Ian free even as they were nearing the end of their troubles. I don’t think it’dbe enough compensation even if Bryce left his entire fortune for Ian, Aurora thought. Some things justcan’t be compensated with money. For example, from now onward, I know that I’ll feel guilty and self-critical whenever I recall the things that Leah said. I’d never be able to make it up to Ian no matter howmuch money I give him. I’ll have to spend the rest of my life fixing my wrongs to Ian, and Bryce willhave to do the same.

That evening, Ian gave Sean a call to ask if there were any other issues at the Morgan Family that hadto do with him. Ian added that he would leave if he had no other business there. Sean was rathersurprised to hear this—he hadn’t expected Ian to leave so soon. Sean figured that Ian would only leaveafter the Morgan Family had completely resolved and dealt with everything.

There was a hint of amusement in Ian’s tone as he spoke. “The rest of these issues have got nothing todo with me, so there’s no point in me staying here,” he uttered.

Sean paused for a moment when he realized that Ian’s words made sense. I’ve always admired howeasy it is for Ian to let go, Sean thought. If only I could do the same. If only I could go on and live my lifewithout caring about all these things. But I can’t do the same as my circumstances differ from Ian’s. I’velived with the Morgan Family for so long—I’m indebted to all that Bryce has done for me. I can’tpossibly pull away when the family is facing such turbulent times. I have no choice but to stay here anddeal with everything, he decided.

“If you’ve decided to leave, I think you should drop by and pay him one last visit. Dad hasn’t beenfeeling well recently, and he keeps talking about incidents that happened in the past. I don’t know ifhe’s just reminiscing old memories or if he feels some guilt toward his past actions,” Sean uttered aftersome consideration. novelbin

That was exactly what Ian had intended to do—he had already decided that he would pay Bryce onelast visit. Perhaps he wasn’t entirely eager to see Bryce, but he had to do it to ensure that the mediawouldn’t have anything to say, at least. In the end, Ian agreed to visit the next afternoon.

However, just one hour after Ian got off the phone with Sean, he received another call from his brother. This time, Sean sounded much more worried than before. He told Ian to rush to the hospital, and heexplained that something was wrong with Bryce. Sean didn’t tell Ian what exactly the problem was—Sean sounded like he was driving, and he ended the call after a few sentences.

Initially, Ian had planned to bring Cindy and Aurora to visit Logan, but he decided that they wouldn’t beable to make it after he received Sean’s call. Ian gave Logan a brief call to explain his situation, andLogan naturally didn’t protest upon hearing Ian’s reason and simply told Ian to prioritize his ownmatters. “We can always meet when we have time in the future,” Logan offered.

After the call was over, Ian hurried to get changed before he, Cindy, and Aurora rushed to the hospital.

When Ian arrived at the ward, he saw Bryce on the bed with an oxygen mask over his face. He waspractically motionless. The doctors had just managed to resuscitate Bryce, and Sean was seatedbeside the bed with an especially stern look on his face.

“What is it? What happened just now?” Ian took a peek at Bryce before he turned to Sean.

Sean looked up at his brother before letting out a sigh. “I don’t know what happened. The nurse justsaid that he had a seizure and that his heart stopped after that. The doctors just saved him, but theysay that his condition isn’t looking good.”
