Chapter 1775

Well, he does have a point. It has been some comfy days. It’s just eating, sleeping, and playing all day.If it weren’t for that case online, this would have been the perfect life. She sighed. “It’s good to be busy.Your career’s on an upward trend, so getting yourself busy can open up new markets for you.”

Ian leaned beside the basin and crossed his arms. “You know working like this isn’t my dream. I don’tcare how many or how big the markets are. Sometimes, I just think making so much money ispointless. I just need to make enough for my life. Anything extra is just a string of numbers in the bankaccount.” Ian had no idea what he wanted in life either, though money wouldn’t be too high on his list.

Cindy turned around and smiled mirthlessly. “My dear pampered prince, you can say that becauseyou’re rich, and you don’t have to worry about life anymore. Lots of people still have to struggle to putfood on the table. You’re going to offend a lot of people if you say that.”

Ian chuckled. She has a point. He watched her as she cooked, and he helped whenever he could.Cooking wasn’t his forte, but he could help out and stay out of trouble.

Cindy didn’t make anything too fancy. It was just a simple lunch, and after she was done, it was time tocall Aurora out to eat. She didn’t tell Ian to do it, since Aurora might feel aggravated if she saw him. After all, she was still feeling upset after hearing about his past. I’ll do it.

She told Ian to set the table up, then she went and knocked on Aurora’s door. Before Aurora could sayanything, Cindy went in and closed the door.

Aurora wasn’t on her bed. Instead, she was standing beside the window.

Cindy went over to her. “Are you feeling better?”

Aurora didn’t say a word when they were strolling around earlier. After Cindy came in and asked herthat, she turned around. There was a solemn look on her face, but she asked kindly, “Is it time for lunchnow?”

Cindy nodded. “Don’t think too much about it. It’s in the past, and Ian’s not the kind of guy who’d takeall that bullying lying down.” novelbin

Ian was a cold and distant man. He would never stand for anyone who had the gall to try and bully him.

Aurora sighed. “I know.” Despite that, she still felt disconsolate. “Honestly, I’ve been thinking about it,and Ian shouldn’t have lived like that. I had been too selfish. I gave birth to him, but I never thoughtabout his future. He should have lived a better life.”

If she could have thought about the matter from Ian’s perspective, he wouldn’t have suffered in hisearly life, nor would the Internet have gone crazy about his past when it was uncovered. Most of thatpast didn’t even involve Ian directly, but things that happened between her and Bryce. That’s reallyembarrassing. I’m a failure as his mother.

They made small talk, and Aurora went out with Cindy.

Ian had set the table up. Once his mother came out, he stared at her for a while, then he looked away.“That doesn’t look like the face of someone who only got into a fight with a taxi driver.”

Aurora was a smart woman, and she got what Ian was trying to say. Ah, Cindy must have told himsomething. She decided to play along and say, “You didn’t see how that rascal acted. He was arrogant

and stupid! I did scold him, but I’m still annoyed.”

Ian didn’t continue this topic. Instead, he said, “Let’s eat and put this behind you. No matter whathappens, life goes on. You don’t really stop. You just can’t.”

It was a vague response, and the ladies were starting to wonder if he actually knew something was up,or if he was just feeling philosophical after ‘knowing’ about the fight Aurora had with the taxi driver.
