Chapter 1616

She looked at Ian quietly, a message hidden in her gaze. novelbin

Ian pursed his lips and asked hesitantly, “What else did you guys talk about?” He wanted to ask if theytalked about him, and what they were talking about if they did. He wanted to know if they mentioned thecall he made to Cindy the night before.

At the same time, Cindy had nothing to do at home. She kept changing the TV channels, but shecouldn’t stand any of the shows. Also, she kept picking her phone up and putting it down, as if waitingfor someone to text her.

Her mother was out, presumably for a poker session. Cindy didn’t like her mother’s obsession withpoker, but she couldn’t tell her off since she didn’t have a good relationship with her mother. Her mothermight ignore everyone else’s comments, but if it came from Cindy, it might spark another argument. However, the upside about her mother’s hobby was that at least it gave Cindy some much-neededpeace and quiet.

She was on the sofa, hugging her legs. The TV was on, but her world was silent. A few questionslingered in her mind, such as the reason why Ian called her last night. Even if he was drunk, heshouldn’t have called her by all accounts. And what was he trying to say? She thought about that forthe whole morning.

That morning, she even called Aurora and talked about a lot of stuff. She wanted to talk about Ian, butshe was worried it might look too obvious. Because of that, she didn’t get to talk about the thing shewanted to know the most. That frustrated her, and it made her jumpy.

To be honest, she didn’t have to dwell too much on that call. After all, it was just something random hedid when he was drunk. But the problem was, Cindy liked Ian, so she cared a lot about everything hedid. She wanted to know why he did that. Yes, she knew it was problematic of her, but she couldn’tcontrol herself.

The torture went on until her mother came home at lunchtime. When Cindy saw her mother humming, she knew her mother had won her poker game. She knew Hazel too well; if she lost her poker game, she would come home with a long face. On this day though, she even came back with a bag of fruits, and she put it beside Cindy. “Have some apples. It’s good for the skin.”

Cindy grunted, but she didn’t elaborate.

Hazel then went to make lunch, and she said, “I have another session in the afternoon. They don’t wantme to go so soon after I win.” In other words, she was saying she’d be out in the afternoon as well.

Cindy picked the bag of fruits up and put it on the cabinet before going back to her room. She scrolledthrough her phone to see if anything interesting was happening, but she couldn’t find anything. Thatfrustrated her, and she wasn't in the mood to do anything else.

Just then, her phone suddenly rang. It shocked her, and she almost threw it away. She took a look atthe caller’s name, and it turned out to be from Aurora. I just called her this morning, and now she’scalling me? I wonder what she wants? She and Ian might be in a rocky phase, but that didn’t affect herrelationship with Aurora, so Cindy took the call. “Hi, Miss Peyton.”

Aurora sounded happy. “Hi, Cindy. Are you alright? Busy?”

“No, I’m free. What is it, Miss Peyton?”

Aurora smiled. “Nothing much. I can’t get used to this place, really. I don’t know his friends, so we don’thave any topics in common. So here I am, chatting with you.”

Cindy smiled as well. “I see. You can take a stroll though. They have beautiful scenery there. Isearched it online before, and they said there are a lot of tourist spots there. You can ask Ian to takeyou around.”
