Chapter 1609

Logan was about to become a father, yet he was still as childish and crazy as ever. Ian stared at Loganhelplessly. Once Logan noticed the woman beside Ian, he greeted her politely. “Hello, Madam Peyton.”

Aurora nodded slightly before she lowered her cap. “Hello.” Logan reached over to take the luggagefrom Aurora’s hands before he strode toward the car. “Come on. The car’s waiting for us outside.”

The car was parked right beside the road after they stepped out from the terminal. Once they got intothe car, Logan thought of something. “Hey, why didn’t you bring that assistant of yours?”

Aurora turned to glance at Ian, who pressed his lips together while maintaining the same expression onhis face. “She went home. She hasn’t been home in a long while, and she has a long break to headhome now.”

Logan didn’t know much about the situation, so he simply smacked his lips as he teased playfully.“Well, that’s a shame. You could have brought her home to introduce her to our friends.”

Ian fixed his gaze on the view outside the window without saying anything.

Logan might have been a little too excited—he didn’t realize how Ian seemed rather down that day.Instead, he continued blabbering about his own stuff in the car. He even mentioned some stuff aboutthe situation with the Morgans.

Aurora only perked her ears to pay attention when she heard the mention of Bryce. Logan let out a longsigh as he spoke of the matter. “I heard that Old Mr. Morgan is in the ICU and that you don’t get to visithim that often. They only allow one visit per day,” Logan uttered. He changed the way he addressed

Bryce since Aurora was right next to him.

Ian frowned. “What about the others?”

Logan knew who Ian was referring to. “Sean is going to work as usual. I heard someone mentioningthat he went to the hospital, so I’m guessing that Sean met Old Mr. Morgan. There’s no need to talkabout the rest of them—they’re probably just waiting to get their inheritance.” novelbin

Ian sniggered without commenting any further. Aurora sighed. “I thought I’d be able to show Bryce howsuccessful I can be without him, but I don’t think he’ll get to witness it.”

Right then, Logan recalled what John uttered previously. “Think about it. Could Old Mr. Morgan beputting on a show just to test his children? He might change his will to leave more money for the oneswho treat him better,” Logan suggested meekly.

Aurora frowned for a moment. “It’s not impossible. Bryce is a really vigilant person. He might not fullytrust someone even if they’re blood-related family members,” she explained.

Logan drove all the way to the clubhouse, and Aurora followed them in to take a look at the place.Judging from the interior of the clubhouse, Aurora could tell that Logan was loaded. She was rathersurprised that Ian had a friend like Logan.

They headed to the room on the second floor. The door to the room was open, and they could hear twogirls laughing before they even got to the door. Sophia was telling Lola about all the cute things that herson did. Some of the things weren’t actually that funny, but they both enjoyed the conversation as onewas a mother while the other was a mother-to-be.

Ian, Aurora, and Logan stopped by the door, and Ian’s gaze immediately landed on Sophia, who wassitting by the edge of the bed. Sophia was dressed in a maxi dress and had put on some light makeupfor the night. She looked almost the same as she did before she gave birth.

She doesn’t look like she’s changed much, Ian thought. I guess she took good care of herself. Hestared at her for a long while before he looked away.

After finishing her story, Sophia turned to see people standing by the door. She got to her feet excitedly.“Ian, you’re here! You must be exhausted after the trip. Come in and take a seat!” Moments later,Sophia looked around behind Ian before she questioned, “Didn’t Ms. Selby come along with you?”

Aurora took her cap off to fix her hair. She didn’t need to introduce herself—everyone knew who shewas. Although none of them had a good impression of her, they all respected Ian enough to greet her ina polite manner.

Aurora nodded. “I’ve heard that all of you are Ian’s good friends. I really appreciate all that you guyshave done for him in the past. Thank you so much.”
