Chapter 1588

As Naomi had no idea what happened between her and Ian, Cindy decided to act as though nothinghappened and ask casually, “What is it? I was away from my phone yesterday because I had aheadache and went to bed early.”

Naomi sighed. “It’s a good thing that you didn’t check your phone. All sorts of rumors are on theInternet now. I don’t have anything important to tell you, actually, and I just called to check on youbecause I was worried that you might be affected by the news on the Internet.”

Judging from her words, Cindy reckoned that some negative news about Ian must have surfaced onthe Internet again. Instead of asking, she merely chuckled. “It’s okay, I’m feeling rather good, actually. In fact, I rarely check the Internet nowadays. There’s no need to create a bad day for myself, really.”

Chuckling at her words, Naomi then said, “You have a really high level of ideological consciousness,Cindy. With such a carefree mindset, you’ll definitely live a long life.”

Cindy nodded in agreement. “The first thing to do in order to live a long life is to quit the entertainmentindustry.”

“That’s true,” Naomi agreed after some thought. “Usually, people with a weak personality often findthemselves tortured in the entertainment industry.”

Previously, Naomi had already heard that countless celebrities, regardless of their popularity, had moreor less experienced depression. One of the reasons was the demanding job, and another was thepressure from the public’s criticisms.

While some things might go unnoticed when it came to regular people, it would cause a huge uproar

when it happened to celebrities, and it was common for their every move to be enlarged.

The situation was made worse by the media who liked to create big headlines by over-interpreting thecelebrities’ words and actions. As a result, the celebrities had to live each day in fear.

After a long period of time, it was not surprising if they started having psychological problems. Althoughthey could make money easily, they were sometimes quite pitiful.

As they chatted, Naomi had reached her company as well, and after they spoke briefly about the newson the Internet, she changed the topic and talked about her work. Since Cindy didn’t read the newsonline, she thought that it would be better if she didn’t bring up those things. Speaking about her job,she told Cindy that she had completed her task rather well on her business trip this time, and hersuperior was very pleased with her. If everything went smoothly, she might be able to be a team leaderafter the year-end review.

“Congratulations,” Cindy said, smiling. “I’m really envious of you.”

Working in a design company, Naomi was currently an assistant for a designer she was assigned to.Even though she was only tasked to do odd jobs, she could still accumulate some experience for thepreparation of her own future. In contrast, Cindy was doing something completely unrelated to heroriginal profession.

However, Naomi knew nothing about her disgruntlement, and she giggled happily. “Oh, shut it. Youhave no idea how many people are envious of you. Although you gave up your initial profession, you’releading a much better life than any of us now. I would like to find a guy like Ian who could support mefinancially, and I would be more than willing to give up my current job.”

See? Cindy thought. Everyone can only see how well others are doing, but not their problems.Sometimes, it’s really hard to compare some things. She sighed silently and said, “I hope that you’ll findyour ideal man soon.”

“Thanks, and I hope that your words come true soon!” Naomi thanked her with a chuckle.

Cindy wasn’t up for chatting anymore, so she simply told her that she was busy and hung up. Withquick steps, she trotted toward her hotel and happened to see Aurora stepping out of a cab when shereached.

Upon seeing her, Aurora seemed relieved and she rushed over to hold her hand. “Cindy, no matter howbad the argument was, you shouldn’t have left in the night. It’s dangerous.” novelbin

Feeling uncomfortable, Cindy withdrew her hand. “Let’s talk inside.”

Both of them went into Cindy’s room, and once they were inside, Aurora couldn’t help but say, “I wentover to Ian’s place this morning and saw him on the couch alone. From just one look, I could tell that hedidn’t sleep a wink last night, and I knew that something must have happened between the both of you.But no matter how I asked him about it, he wouldn’t tell me what exactly happened, and all he said wasthat you left last night. You have no idea how worried I was! It’s dangerous for a lady to be out alone inthe middle of the night.”
