Chapter 1577

Gary bobbed his head. “Since he’s on business, it’s fine, then. Let’s order.”

He ordered two dishes and let Cindy add on.

As the considerate man he was, he even ordered some corn soup beforehand, which the waiterbrought over when Cindy arrived.

Since Cindy had offered to treat him, she, by courtesy, shouldn’t be stingy on her food choices. Hence, she decided to be generous and ordered a few more dishes.

It was only when the waiter left after taking their order that Gary stated, “I asked some of myacquaintances in the entertainment industry, and they all said that Ian was being targeted. After all, hissudden spike in popularity took away a huge slice of others’ profits. Those people couldn’t afford to sitand wait.”

Cindy nodded. “I agree. Ian blew up too fast.”

Typically, whenever a celebrity rose to fame, many would come to stir up scandals for the famed figure. novelbin

Ian had a dreadful experience of it previously that revolved around his birth.

Nevertheless, the previous case wasn’t as influential as the case now. The masterminds pulling thestrings must have been dissatisfied with their failure to bring him down. Thus, they came up with aneven greater plan to fabricate and spread false rumors about his non-existent love life.

Gary poured a bowl of corn soup for Cindy. “I also asked them about ways to deal with such situations, but they told me there were too many people involved in the making of the incident, so it’s rather touchyto settle.”

Cindy let out a sigh of disappointment, at a loss for words.

After staring at her for a while, Gary suddenly cackled. “That’s odd. I don’t see any signs of frustrationon your face.”

Taken aback, she awkwardly scratched her head. “Ah? Are you saying I’m being too calm about this?”

Beaming, Gary nodded. “It’s a little too calm if I’m being honest.”

Cindy replied with a laugh, “It’s probably because too many things have happened to Ian recently. Inthe beginning, I was undoubtedly anxious, but they were constantly repeating that I’m pretty muchimmune to them by now.”

Gary pondered. “It’s true there has been abundant news about Ian lately. What about him? How is heholding up?”

She attempted to recall Ian’s behavior earlier today, yet she couldn’t quite put it to words. It was similarto hers. Neither hasty nor overcalm, he seemed somewhat unaffected by the drama.

Before Cindy could answer, Gary uttered, “It’s the same as yours, isn’t it? I can tell based on yourexpression right now.”

Cindy then took a sip of the corn soup. “Perhaps we’re more open-minded. After all, it’s inevitable forsuch things to happen in showbiz. Once or twice may tremble us, but more than that is virtuallypractice. Besides, we have come up with a plan for the worst case scenario.”

Gary raised his brows. “Worst case scenario?”

Cindy chuckled and lowered her voice. “Your ears only, okay? Do not tell anyone about this. This iswhat I have in mind. If things don’t turn back from going south, we’ll just go on as normal people. Afterall, working nine to five isn’t that bad of an idea. There’s no need to force ourselves to remain in the

entertainment industry. Honestly, it isn’t my favorite way to live. Everyone’s holding a blade behindthemselves, as if there aren’t enough conflicts in this world.”

Gary peered at her. “It’s rare for ladies to possess such open-minded thinking like you do. They usuallylike to mess around in the industry. Even if they aren’t famous, they would try to be by attending everyoccasion.”

Cindy bobbed her head. “Well, I’m not very much into such a complex lifestyle. Rather, a simpler lifewould suit me much better where I can enjoy my privacy without drawing too much attention, nor do Ineed to face people pointing fingers at me.”

Hearing that, Gary let out a long sigh. “You’re quite the thorough thinker, young lady.”

He added, “I agree with you. I, too, think what you mentioned is much better, but many persist to dwellin the industry despite the hardships that come along with it. What for, if not fame and wealth?Everyone thinks that making banks is the way to go. But the way I see it, having enough is all thatmatters. Unless we can spend it all, money is nothing but a bunch of numbers.”
