Chapter 1576

Then, he added, “Bring Ian along, will you?”

Cindy pondered for a while and agreed before asking what time Gary would get off work to decide on atime.

After hesitating for a while, Gary suggested a time that was neither too late nor too early.

Since it would be restaurants’ peak hour, they would have to make a reservation.

Meanwhile, Ian, who was sitting at the side, without hearing what Gary said, could roughly figure outtheir conversation based on Cindy’s responses alone.

When Cindy hung up, he revealed a subtle smile. “Gary, huh? Are you having dinner with him tonight? If so, Mom and I will make dinner ourselves.”

She hastily proposed, “Let’s go together. Mrs. Morgan too.”

Without giving it much thought, Aurora turned down her offer out of weariness. “Go ahead without me.I’ll just go home. I don’t have the appetite for anything.”

After saying that, she got up from the couch.

Ian quickly grabbed her arm. “Stay. I don’t have the appetite either, so I’m not going.”

Seeing both of them refusing to go, Cindy was left embarrassed.

Since she had promised Gary, she couldn’t go back on her words. She continued to persuade, “Comewith me, please? There’s no point staying at home. So, why don’t we go get dinner and live a little?”

Before Aurora could answer, Ian rejected, “Nope. Enjoy your dinner.”

It wasn’t like he was being rude. In fact, he was just speaking calmly as usual. Though, there was a hintof exhaustion in his voice, as if he didn’t want to be involved in anything.

Cindy pouted her lips. She was aware that both Ian and Aurora had things to worry about, so there wasno point convincing them any longer.

Aurora thoughtlessly turned to Cindy. “Just go, Cindy. He’s the guy you knew from investing, right?Since you made a promise, you should go. We’re not really in the mood, so we’ll just stay here. It’ll beimpolite for us to show up with our frowns anyway.”

She was pretty apparent as her words bore neither satire nor aggression.

After hesitating for a while, Cindy eventually gave in to their decision.

She nodded. “Okay. I’ll be back as soon as possible.”

Without even glimpsing at her, Ian lowered his head as he pulled out his phone and started swiping.Only himself knew what he was looking at. novelbin

Aurora appeared to be much more robust than before, though her emotions were still rather bland.

She slothfully lay against the couch. “I wonder if your manager would still keep me in contact after the

entire incident. I can’t even tell if I’ll be able to retain the role I had.”

Finished, she heaved a sorrowful sigh. “Pain. It’s all pain. Does an old stick like me really not have theopportunity to turn a new leaf anymore?”

Cindy had the urge to laugh, but it wasn’t exactly appropriate for her to laugh aloud, so she held it back.

On the other hand, Aurora seemed to have noticed her reaction and glanced at her.

As if something had come up in her mind, she suddenly voiced, “How credible is that man, Gary Frye,Cindy? Perhaps I should join you in investing… Since showbiz doesn’t want me, I could use some helpfrom other fields.”

Not knowing whether she was joking, Cindy naively nodded her head. “I’ll set you up when myinvestment comes to fruition. Let’s earn as much as we can together.”

All of a sudden, Aurora sat up straight and patted her shoulder. “Isn’t my daughter-in-law the best?”

Ultimately, Cindy would be the only one attending the dinner with Gary, who suggested the venue.Upon receiving a text from him, she hailed a cab and headed to the destination.

When she arrived at the restaurant, Gary was already seated. She apologetically quizzed, “Am I late?”

Gary stood up from his seat and beamed. “Nope. Where’s Ian? Is he busy?”

As it was inconvenient to provide any other answer, Cindy improvised around his question as she

nodded her head. “Yeah, the agency summoned him. They must have needed him over to discuss howto deal with the whole internet thing.”
