Chapter 1567

Ian asked Aurora, “Sean should’ve gotten old enough to understand things at the time, didn’t he?”

Aurora nodded. “Sean spent most of the time with his mother in the hospital, so I never had any conflictwith him.” She had never come into contact with Sean even after Bryce dumped her.

Ian nodded. If it was necessary, he could ask Sean to step forward and say something. After all, Seanshould know very well how his mother really died. According to what Ian knew about Sean, Seanprobably wouldn’t twist the knife in his wound despite his dislike for him.

Aurora wasn’t as unperturbed as Ian and Cindy, though. After all, she blamed herself somewhat andthought that she had brought Ian into trouble. If it weren’t for the purpose of finding job offers for her,Ian wouldn’t have needed to meet Yulia. However, he ended up being plotted against after seeingYulia. The surveillance footage had proven his innocence, yet he came under the netizens’ attacksbecause of her past deeds.

Aurora didn’t get a wink of sleep last night, as she felt terrible no matter how she thought about it. Shehad ruined Ian’s career before even starting her own.

Cindy went over and sat down beside Aurora before gently patting the latter on the back. “Don’t be toohard on yourself. Even if your innocence can’t be proven on the internet, I believe many netizens arestill rational. After all, this doesn’t have much to do with Ian.”

Aurora buried her face in her hands, letting out a long sigh. “I’m mainly afraid that someone might fanthe flames. Ian’s career has just started to thrive. It’ll all be my fault if his career comes to a haltbecause of this.”

Ian replied with a snort, “I don’t like show business very much either. If I don’t get to work in showbizafter this, I’ll just call it quits. Surely I can make a living in some other way.” Moreover, he had enoughsavings. He might not be filthy rich for the rest of his life, but he would definitely have enough to providefor himself.

Ian wasn’t emotionally attached to the fame and wealth in show business, so he wasn’t very obsessedwith whether he was popular or not. In fact, from another point of view, he felt that it would be a relief ifhe really had to quit show business because of this. In the future, he would be able to go out fordinners, make friends, and attend gatherings normally. He would never have to worry about having hisreputation affected and the agency holding him accountable after being identified. Many lauded thejoys of being a performing artist, and indeed, it was great—but nobody ever mentioned the drawbacks.

Aurora looked up at Ian, her eyes somewhat moist with tears. “I’m afraid that you’ll blame me.”

Ian didn’t think of it as a matter of importance, though. He leaned against the sofa’s armrest andreplied, “Why would I? What had happened in the past isn’t entirely your fault.” He thought of Brycethen. Logan told him last time that Bryce had been hospitalized. He wondered how Bryce was doing inthe hospital, but according to Logan, Bryce was probably in quite a miserable state.

Who else could be blamed for this? Bryce has only himself to blame, Ian thought. One wouldn’t sufferthe consequences of what they had done in their youth until they got older. This was an unchangingfact, but Bryce had been too conceited in the past, thinking that he could escape fate. Now he finallymet the fate he deserved.

As Aurora hadn’t eaten anything until now, Cindy hurried to prepare lunch. She knew what Aurora likedto eat, so she made a special effort to prepare the latter’s favorite dishes.

Aurora was somewhat dejected as she leaned back on the sofa, but she saw at a glance what Cindywas holding when the latter took the ingredients from the fridge and carried them to the kitchen. She

remarked with a sigh, “What a wonderful girlfriend you’ve gotten yourself.”

Ian merely smiled without saying a word.

Aurora said, “Actually, you should be looking for girls like her as your girlfriend. Don’t even bother withthose flamboyant ones.”

“Uh-huh,” Ian responded. “You’re right. A girl like her is pretty nice.”

Aurora let out a sigh as she changed the subject. “No matter if you’re a man or a woman, make yourdecision wisely when choosing your spouse. Don’t make one mistake after another like me.”

Ian hesitated for a moment before telling Aurora that Bryce had been hospitalized. He also told her howBryce’s current wife and children didn’t give a damn about him and how Bryce was said to be living thelife of an heirless old man without support in the hospital.

Aurora didn’t seem to take pleasure in Bryce’s misfortune at all. She shook her head slightly as shereplied, “I never expected him to be in such a plight one day. So what if he’s rich? Money can’t buy himsincerity, can he?”novelbin
