Chapter 1466

However, Logan’s behavior did fill Lola with a sense of security. She nodded before saying with a smile,“I found it quite funny that Logan swore like a trooper when Jasmine called him at first. My views weresimilar to John’s—I didn’t think she called Logan to sabotage our relationship, so I didn’t bother muchabout it. Logan didn’t think so, though. He thought they shouldn’t be in touch anymore. I can’tremember it that well, but Jasmine seemed to have called Logan three times. After that, he blocked heron his cell phone right away.”

Sophia laughed beside them as she commented, “You have such a strong awareness, Logan. Comeon—you’d better come clean about who you were talking to on the phone just now.”

Logan replied, “Geez, who else could it be? It was Ian. Isn’t he doing fine now? His mother has learnedabout it. Right now, she has gone to him and asked him to help fix her up with some jobs, saying thatshe wants to make a comeback.”

John was the first to speak after him. “Ian’s mother went to him? She must have remembered this sonof hers after seeing his success.”

Logan felt the same way. “Ian lived a life of pure misery in the Morgan Family for so many years, yet hismother never once gave him a phone call. Instead, she’s gone to him now that he finally has his day. Ican’t speak too much in front of Ian, but I really don’t like his mother. I think Ian deserves a bettermother.”

Sophia didn’t say a word since she couldn’t comment on such matters. Besides, whenever she spokeup for Ian, John would make a fuss about it.

Lola looked at Logan. “Well, is he going to help her?”

Logan nodded. “Yeah, but he doesn’t have any connections, so he wants to see if Lorraine canrecommend his mother for some odd jobs so that the latter can show her face. It’s not difficult to do thiskind of thing. Besides, I’m afraid his mother will go on and on about it if I refuse to help.”

Sophia shook her head. Every family has its own problems, after all, she thought to herself.

Logan then recalled something else. “I ran into Bryce outside a few days ago, though I wonder whatthat old guy was doing out there with Sean supporting him by the arm. He saw me as well, but wedidn’t speak to each other,” he said before pausing for a moment. Then, he continued, “Do you guysknow how much restraint I exercised to stop myself from spitting at him?”

Sophia recalled how Logan had made a scene in front of Bryce for Ian’s sake during their previous visitto the Morgan Residence. In other words, Bryce was somewhat afraid of Logan too. Even if Loganreally spat at him during this encounter, he would probably have no choice but to bear it. Otherwise, hewould get a good scolding.

However, Logan then added, “He’s aged so fast, though. I didn’t think a long time had passed since Ilast saw him, but when I met him this time, I felt that he was completely different from before. He couldstill walk with the aid of a stick in the past, but he can’t walk without Sean supporting him right now.”

Sophia immediately responded, “Old Mr. Morgan isn’t young anymore. Moreover, this old man hasnever done anything proper in his youth. Perhaps that has taken a toll on his health, which is why he’sbegun to suffer. It serves him right, though—it’s his fault for behaving as if he’d never seen a womanwhen he was younger.”

Lola couldn’t help but laugh upon hearing Sophia’s words.

John’s lips curved as well. “You aren’t afraid to speak your mind, huh.”

“Mm-hm,” Sophia responded. “I’m not afraid of saying this even in front of Bryce. I’m neither his relativenor friend, so why should I care about his feelings? Besides, I won’t be indulgent toward him since hetreats Ian badly.”

John stared at Sophia. “You really are protective of Ian, aren’t you?”

Sophia stretched out and leaned back on the sofa. “Why can’t I be protective of Ian? You can keep intouch with Isabelle, after all.”

Look—she’s bringing up this subject again, John thought to himself. He took out his cell phone andsaid, “All right, all right. I’ll block her on my cell phone, okay?”

“Don’t do that.” Sophia didn’t appreciate the gesture at all. “I don’t care whether you’ll block her on yourcell phone or not. It’s just tit for tat, and there’s no way I’m going to lose.”

John smiled helplessly, but he nevertheless blocked Isabelle on his cell phone.

Logan commented, “Ah, you’re right to do that. Ex-girlfriends should never exist in our lives.”novelbin
